For any of you who need drinking advice, the beer to drink while playing Eve Online is:

http://einstokbeer.com/#

It's an Icelandic brewery and their motto is "Drink. Conquer. Repeat."

How perfect is that? Big smile

(And their porter at least tastes very good!)

No beer. It tastes the same way going in as coming out.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Regarding Wikipedia, beer was banned in Iceland from 1915 to 1989.
If they would have done that in Bavaria, there would have been a Civil War. Big smile

In my local beer store, they sometimes have O'Haras Leann Folláin. Sadly it costs almost 4 Euros per bottle.

Prohibition in Iceland

BBC news had a story about that a few months ago. Prohibition didn't work with Icelanders. They could legally bring in case or so from abroad. So anybody going to the U.K. on vacation had to bring back the limit for their friends and relatives. It was pretty much mandatory.

Also, if you knew a fisherman, you could get all the smuggled British and Irish beer and ale you wanted. And everybody in Iceland knew a fisherman. In the end, they realized that the law was completely ineffective, so they did the formality of repealing it.

Prohibition never worked anywhere, didn't worked in the USA back then and didn't worked with the Icelanders.

That's what I was alluding to...

Single malt Scotch > American/Irish toilet cleaner.

You are a man of good taste, sir. Jim Beam is the best American sour mash/bourbon there is. No need to do all of that advertising and hype-branding stuff like Jack Daniels stuff.

(Agreed, whisky and whiskey are two different animals. One's an old but still cool old grandpa, the other's a biker cowboy. Different breeds, both great in their own way. Smile).

Have you tasted many?

Jim Beam > Jack Daniels -> true

But http://www.michters.com/whiskey/us1-sour-mash#whiskey/us1-sour-mash/1 and others are more interesting.

I actually prefer Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, however, though Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey, isn't bad.

But comparing all of those to single malt Scotch Whisky is like comparing George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, David Niven, and Barry Nelson to Sean Connery in the role of James Bond.

A bottle of Lagavulin 16yo circa 7 years ago yielded a dram that finished the way Ardbeg Perpetuum enters. Now that was an amazing single malt. Modern Lagavulin is much diminished. Seek out Laphroaig 18 or The Macallan 18 (the 21 is holy crap good, and holy crap expensive).

No Wodka here? huh...

Vodka has very little character, the closer it is to just alcohol and water, the "better". A dram of single malt tells you the story of the land, the water, and the trees before passing in a low fire.

Jim Beam is the good.
I do enjoy some Maker's Mark on occasion as well.

However for my daily dose of EVE it's nothing fancy, just a six pack of Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Bourbon is for special "I have a week off work, don't need to wear pants, and it's time go extra derpy on EVE" times for me.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.
