Why are people getting CONCORD insurance payouts for ships they self-destruct?

Example: Wormhole explorers find POS with shields down ( accident or sabatoge ) ... so, before they steal the small stuff, they get into ships that are so big they will close the WH, and asplode them for the insurance.

This is almost as senseless as CONCORD insurance payouts to the CONCORDOKKEN were ....

( mind you ... I'd asplode them anyway, just for giggles .... )

If you never bought insurance, how would you claim it? If you hop in someone elses ship, you negate the insurance by boarding it.

I must admit, I'm a little confused.

Do you blow up your own ships?

Every ship has a baseline insurance of 40%, always.

And, to the OP, it seems like you're trying to suggest a large change for a very small niche issue (if you can even call it an 'issue').

There's really no issue with insurance payouts for self-destructing as-is, especially in the niche context you're talking about.

Another idea. Not sure if it has been mentioned yet. Does your insurance get cancelled if your corp "declares" war on another corp? I think it should be cancelled completely. Defenders of course should keep their insurance as they were not the hostile party to the war.

Just remove insurance. The game doesn't need the isk faucet anyway. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.Big smile
