Thoughts on EVE

These are a few things that I think would make EVE even better than it is already. Some ideas are long-term, DUST 514 orientated, Incarna specific, etc… Not all of them are hashed out completely.

-For the love of god, why does your pod not maintain its name when you leave your ship!!!

-A one-time skill re-allocation allowance (250,000 to 500,000 skill points) once a character is a certain age. This would allow pilots to get rid of a few of their “mistake” skills without being able to completely changing their character.

-Why do all the acceleration gates look like they were constructed by the Caldari?

-InterBus Empire Transportation Service (IB-ETS). For a fee, a character (and his pod) can be transported from one station to another. No cargo of any kind could be transported via this service. This service would only be allowed in High-Security space with an hourly departure schedule. A character does not need to be logged on while the transit is in progress. They can logoff while in their pod after scheduling (and paying) for the trip. Or, characters could stay logged on and use the time to study the market, send emails, read the news, etc… An InterBus Shuttle (new ship?) trip takes as long as a standard auto-pilot route from system to system. Possible problems include pod pilots with Faction Warfare affiliation using the IB-ETS system to move between empires and suicide gankers attacking the ship (Concord escort? If the InterBus ship is destroyed the pod automatically docks at the nearest station? There should be little risk but never zero risk.)

-Ship thieving. No write up as of yet, but how awesome would that be?

-Boarding parties. I’m sure this thought has already crossed the minds of CCP developers. How about DUST marines raiding a station and reducing (or eliminating) reinforcement time? What about off-lining a Stargate to block enemy reinforcements?

-Ship’s crew, formations and smuggling. All of these have been brought up before and talked about at some point by CCP developers.

-Selling excess loyalty points?

-If Incarna ever takes off what will the interior of a POS look like? I can’t imagine that they will have a sprawling promenade like the larger stations. Will they be cramped, dark and dank? Will they have maximum occupancy ratings? Similarly, what about a “home station” for each player that could be customizable like sockets? What about a “real-time” hanger? From your balcony you could see other docked ships and other balconies. This might be technically difficult in higher traffic stations, but what about dividing area by ship type? Bay 1 for freighters, Bay 2 for Frigates, Bay 3 for Battleships, etc…

Thoughts?

1. Never bothered renaming the pod. TBH, i don't even know if you *can*.
2. no. you'll use the skills eventually.
3. ancient relics or some such.
4. Jump Clones.
5. You can already do this ... the trick is getting the other guy to eject.
6. Could be interesting, I guess. Really depends on how well DUST takes off.
7. Not really sold on the "crew" ideas ... other ones seem OK though.
8. I still don't have what I'd consider "excess"
9. you can't dock in a POS, so this is a moot point anyway.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

It's kind of like repackaging a ship. For the duration of time you are boarded, your pod really doesn't exist.

That's a paltry amount of points, and only really matters in the first few weeks. No guarantee you'll ever use them though.

Like mentioned: Ancient technology. It only looks vaguely Caldari.

I like this, but I see no reason there should be an associated risk; just free, instantaneous transport for a fee. Fee could be calculated per jump and by light years distance traveled. Why shouldn't someone be able to "sneak" into faction space? They still have to buy a ship and/or undock to do anything. Interbus shuttle does exist btw.

Mentioned: Possible.

I really like the idea of alternative tasks/missions for Dust marines. Boarding POS/enemy stations and causing all hell to break loose is an awesome idea. I'd very much enjoy it. Could also be a way to retake abandoned POS; but perhaps that should be an initiative afforded to Dust players alone.

No thoughts really, except that these should have nothing to do with Dust players, unlike the former idea. Well, at some point smuggling might be an option, in the holds of someone elses ship, if it's information related. Again, Dust specific for the most part. EVE really has no need for secret means of communicating information/intel.

Sure. It's really quite irrelevent, and I know from experience that incidental LP increases with unintended factions/corporations is quite easy to come by.

Multi-user space much like seen on documentaries and movies in which you can view the interior of real or imagined space stations like that of the International Space Station. No personal quarters to speak of; simply a control area, common area for eating/sleeping, and maintenance areas and shafts.

I've provided a proposal for the following ideas in this suggestion:

1) Ship theft
2) Ship crews
3) Establishments on PI networks
4) Massive Incarna environments

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!
