"Best" is subjective. That said, there is certainly no question whether or not station trading is a good way to make isk. It certainly is, assuming you have the patience and are willing to do the research.

trading looks to be a good way to make isk. that said I get bored of it and can't usually manage more than a few orders. my alt can do 200 something, but usually only juggle enough to buy tags and sell LP store goodies.

Be aware that trading high frequency items (like PLEX and T2 modules) requires high standings with the owner of the station to be profitable. The margins are so thin that broker fees and sales tax will eat up almost all of your profits.

I haven't figured out the best way to make my money work for me either.

I've never had more than four billion liquid and I'm probably in the low twelve figures in total assets (not counting character values). 99% of the time I have under 1b in the wallet.

This is a game you are supposed to have fun. If you like station trading and playing pretend comodities broker is fun for you then that is a good way for you to spend your game time. If not then the game becomes a job and you might a well work an hour of overtime at your RL job and buy a PLEX. What ever you like doing in game make isk doing that.

If you are focusing on how you don't like being "eve poor" then you'll have a hard time making isk. How about instead of starting off with focusing on what you dislike you focus on what you like and work in a positive direction instead of negative.

As far as what other people are doing you are not other people. Maybe they don't mind running missions all week long so that they can PvP once on the weekend in a machariel and then when they loose it they are done for the week. My point is that you are not them. Focus on you and your game. If you like PvP then have fun loosing lots of cheap ships and find a way to make isk doing that.

Always keep assets diversified and be ready to dump fast if game changes mean you need to exit a market.

I could have lost many billions if I had been unwilling to dump Rattlesnakes on buy orders when their supply changed with the exploration changes.

If you aren't reading patch notes, never have more than 5% of your NAV in one type of asset or 25% in a group of related assets.

You could look at it this way or you could look at it that if you learn to produce in abundance then there is no need to worry about losses.

Ask a professional sports team's coach if he is more likely to succeed when focusing his team's efforts in a positive direction like winning or scoring more goals etc. or if he is more likely to succeed when focusing his player's efforts on not loosing. My guess is that any coach at that level will tell you that a positive focus will get you further.

It is difficult to produce positive results when you focus your efforts on negative influences.

Sadly there is no easy way, I hate trading, requires lots of active time which I don't have. I also give too much away.
The most suitable way I have found is to go find a nice renter corp close to HS, 1 jump in a JF is what you want. Setup some large pos's and react basic moon goo to complex items. If you bored, run some sites.
I know some people make tons are speculation.. but I have yet to master that art.
Researching and selling capital BPC's seems to be a thing, not sure how profitable it is though
