C4 Mining

I was recently invited to mine in an established C4 WH. I ran the numbers and it looks like a toss up at face value. My concern is the quantity and reliability of ore/gas anomalies to determine if it will be profitable. If I spend most of my time waiting on sites then I would be better off mining where I am now.

For a variety of reasoning, mining in WH is not lucrative compared to harvesting gas, selling it in HS, and then importing compressed ores. Travel down wormhole chains from your home wormhole to find good gas sites. Ninja gassing is pretty lucractive if you are not able to handle the sleeper spawn. Nnja mining a single C320/540 site can get you 30-50m in 15 minutes.

Mining in w-space is easier now that one doesn't need a Rorqual for compression *grumble*

Hauling the compressed ore out is still an issue in a C4; you can use and Orca, but you will find it takes several trips.

There were always plenty of ore and gas sites when I was in w-space, and they last a few days each.

Mining -> Not worth it. You can do the same thing in hisec. When the risk factor (wormholes: spectacularly hazardous - hisec: none) is added, hisec is more lucrative. If you use a mining barge in a wormhole, you will get ganked by passers-by. If you use an Exhumer and someone sees you, someone will be patient and wait for you to bring it out again. Hisec doesn't care what you use, so you get higher yield, if lower value ore.

Gas harvesting in a Venture/Prospect is definitely worth it if you mash DScan the entire time you are in system.
