I was at around 30 likes, and two people (one of them was the one mentioned in the original post) gave me a ton of likes.

I still don't get why you would show likes and not post count. Seems like all the same problems and assumptions go along with both. So while people giving tons of likes may sku the total number a person has, I don't give it much credit to begin with.

A person +1'ing every post in a thread doesn't hurt anything. You still see the +1 people as +2 etc etc. Anyone who wants to show their approval still can and I think that's how the system works best. Thread by thread basis.

Kind of annoying I can't see who gives me 'real' likes on posts. I was lucky enough to log on just now, check my larger list under profile, and see a few likes from some others in the middle of all of his, but he kept going and even in the expanded list it's entirely his +1's now.

Destination Skillqueue has turned the like system into a post counter. At least someone is trying to do something constructive with it.
