As I go around space I continuously seem people spamming chat with scams. Is this never going to be something they get rid of? I don't mind people scamming, it's all part of the game, but much like when you walk into one of those MMOs to find 500 players standing in a blob with scam shops open, it's juts unnecessary clutter. It'd be nice if local chat were for... you know, chat.

It's only a real problem in the trade hubs. Also, remember that you can block people.

I've been about 8j from a trade hub past couple of days and still I get people flying through spamming their messages. Blocking works short-term but within a day or two there's more new alts. It's a silly thing to have to work around.

Thanks. Yes, that would be annoying so far out. I usually sigh with relief and clear my chat log when leaving the hub.

I have a char sitting mostly in Amarr and one mostly in Jita and both locals are pretty tamed by now. Every now and then a new scambot/char pops up but I barely see any scam spam and even made some good deals because of the local chat offers. I didn´t even knew people actually advertise good deals in local but well, it happens and now I see them. :)

So it´s worth blocking all the scambots/users. Not much work and once you got threw the big chunks it´s just adding more when they pop up but it´s not many.

solution: corp chat

On occasions, that's like dropping the red hot pokers in exchange for the sound of an alarm clock being cycled repeatedly, at max volume... with the attendant feeling of extreme drowsiness and urge to make it all go away. Sometimes, you just can't win. X

Block them and encourage all in local to do so. You'll annoy them so much you will attract a few bounties.

It's good fun to call them lowlife and publicly block them.

After a few hundred lowlifes blocked, local becomes usable again.

Liar. First you ask if they will never get rid of it, implying they would want that. They don't.
Then you lie about how you don't mind it.
Then you find a stupid comparison and tell us how you feel out it. Unnecessary clutter.
And of cp'ourse the lqst sentence.

No. Scams are staying. No relevant person wants them gone. Learn to use the block function.

I don't want scams gone, I want spam gone. That's why I went to great lengths to make that distinction clear. It seems pointless to allow chat channels to be filled with spam from disposable alts, and it's certainly not a part of the game worth preserving. Nobody is saying "golly, I should play EVE, they have loads of spam there!".

You should learn to be a better troll. Obvious faux outrage is obvious.

Blocking people isnt really a solution... i have maybe 400-500 people blocked from jita alone but still the local is full of scammy spam...

Jita is about 100x better than it was a few years back. I don't even need a blocklist there now to be able to read things.

All I can suggest, if blocking isn't a solution for you is to minimise local, or go somewhere else.

Have a nice day!

You are one salty assh- ... err individual. Picking apart posts and belittling the poster seems to be your strong point; your reading comprehension however is weak.

OP, just block them, unless there's a magic wand that automatically blocks spammers and their alts, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I wasn't outraged. That's you reading it into my post. Someone who is telling you how it is, isn't a troll. Your post does not fit together, my post was spot on, you're a liar. Just because you baby can't deal with that, doesn't make me a troll or outraged.

And you can not remove the spam without removing the scams.

You're transparent. kthxbye.

Let me repeat that for everyone, to make sure you all get it and understand what the OP is about:

This is a solution, sure, but I still wonder why a workaround solution is required for such a simple thing as keeping chat clear of spam.

Angelica Dreamstar wrote:

Clearly you were and still are. People don't launch into attacks just to "tell it how it is". I've read your posts and this seems to be a common trait.

Angelica Dreamstar wrote:

Of course you can. A simple limit to the number of times you're allowed to hammer out an advertisement in local would do that. Notice that scams are allowed in many forums here, such as MD, and scams occur, yet the forums aren't filled with spam posts like local chat. What you seem to be upset about is that without spam you won't be able to shotgun scams to thousands and thousands of people and might actually have to put in some effort rather than copy-pasting someone else's scam text then re-rolling your alt when too many people block you.
