Some ideas floating around my head about how to increase small/medium gang pvp activity that this game badly needs.

The way I think of it is you need to create places small groups of people can call home and defend because their home is profitable. But the home needs to be balanced so that it provides a nice profit to a small group (10-20) pilots and no more because you want to keep the focus on smaller groups.

We already have a good example of this in game.
For this reason I would suggest making wormholes better.

More people living in wormholes for more small gang pvp activity.
Fix this by restoring the ribbon drop rate and upping the respawn rate of sites slightly.
Even consider introducing Teritorial Claim units for wormholes that adds some form of buff.

Additionally I'd like to see a change roll out to lowesec too.
Making lowsec more appealing to smaller groups and profitable to smaller entities.
The ideas how need thought but again systems could be claimable and what riches or buffs produced could only be gained by the owners.

This I think would bring back some badly needed smaller gang PVP.

thoughts anyone?

I'm sure everybody that lived in wormholes before the nanoribbon droprate was lowered missed it, but that hasn't really affected the number of people capable of living in a wormhole to my knowledge.

Lowsec is already the home of small gang PvP. I've never encountered a true blob there, or been part of one. The largest fleet I've come into action against is around 7-8 members, and been part of is around 20 members.

The 20 member gang was during a small stint with E-Uni, and I can't say I would have found it all that threatening if I was a member of the 7-8 person gang I fought solo on the other occaision. DPS to kill a Brutix was slow enough that it took a minute or so. In contrast, the 7-8 person gang took down my buffer tanked experimental scorp in more or less 30 seconds.

It was an experience.

I strongly agree that small-scale pvp needs to be brought back into the game. Im not sure these are guaranteed methods to do it. The things you mentioned are just going to be exploited by the larger bodies of players.

Wormholes are becoming more and more populated. There are good fights, but Im hesitant to fight in there now because its becoming a blob fest in there as well. Cant go a few days without running into one of the bigger alliances in there that are just constantly collapsing holes looking for people to ****.

Make owning large territory vastly more expensive. Create a mini dread so taking and holding space is easier to do and less costly. Enable small gangs to own a system or constellation and protect it again the swarms of cap blobs, either by force or by worth.

Thanks for the comments.

I agree with most of what everyone said.

The concept needs to be to create dwellings that are only profitable to smaller organisations. More smaller entities protecting thier homes.

I mentioned wormholes and lowsec changes as ideas that could improve this but perhaps there are better suggestions.

I hope CCP is listening.
