I know this is a really small thing, and I love all the things that you've done with the UI lately, espeically the font. Damn, new font is gorgeous and I'll love you forever for it, but please, please consider bringing back these background window textures we had in the old days.

Linkifiation of what i'm on about.

What do the rest of you guys think?

Interesting idea and it differs with taste, but the trend I'm getting is that "modern" UIs do not have 3D look and feel. UI trends are what make some programs and websites just "look old" as opposed to others that look "modern" or "slick".

The current UI trend is towards flatness, transparency, and crisp lines with limited use of 3D/depth for buttons (if anything). The Eve UI reflects that, as do the forums.

While the backgrounds might look cool to you personally, they would give an "aged" impression to the Eve UI. I'd be all for it if they were completely optional (and not on by default), but it's a no-no to them being used globally.

Nothing wrong with more options, but its a nice wee bit of eye candy that I personally miss.

I agree with you where UI trends are going, and quite like the UI for the Captain's Quarters objects. But the old backgrounds always did have a nice backlit feel to them.
