Predator Elite used to go Yolo with his vargur. He almost lost it a few times but it always was able to slip out/bastion tank till backup arrived. That said he would do this within 1-2 jumps of our home system so a backup fleet of T3's was never far away and he knew the locals extremely well (Who to shoot, who to run from)

EDIT: If you look at Zkill you can see a few peopel using them. AfriKOS took out a small T1 cruiser gang (solo) with a Vargur on the 8th, for instance.
