This is a pretty old problem and its really random. Sometimes my connection to EVE server is stable for 16h (im AFK a lot), sometimes i get several disconnects in 1 hour.

I guess i depends on the stability of the connection of your client to the server. Every game instance has its own connection and if it goes through bad routers and other network stuff you can get disconnected.

Same problem here just started after last patch, running 4 toons on a Area51 Desktop all the whistles and bells, wired direct to cable 50mb service..just disconnect the internet. no set pattern. Thought it might be the machine but after several hours of other data intense games it only happens with Eve.

Bump, I'm also having this issue. It's intermittent and has been going on since I changed ISP's a couple of weeks ago. I'm on Comcast in the western US. It might be helpful if you guys also mention your ISPs as that might help narrow down which hop is losing packets like this. Given that a couple of you guys seem to be EU I'd bet it's a link really close to the EVE cluster itself.

So here's what I'd suggest you guys do.

Go here:

It's part of the EVE Online wiki. Download pingplotter and start running your own traces while playing the game. Whenever you see a red bar like these or experience a disconnect make sure to take a screenshot.

It'll be interesting to see if all our connections are running through the same routers or not. You should get 100% packet loss before resolving the trace, CCP is blocking the packet type the trace is run using as a security measure so that red bar across the bottom is normal and expected.

Keep in mind you're only running a trace every 2.5 seconds here, it's possible a shorter event that doesn't show up as a trace could cause your TCP connection to be lost . Also every one of these red lines isn't a 100% connection lost, the duration of the disruption has a lot to do with whether you lose connection the EVE or not, and it's difficult to determine how long one of these lasts pinging only every 2.5 seconds. Just keep at it and eventually you'll get one that shows up and you can point to THIS ONE as the exact problem.

It's also important to note that this probably isn't directly CCP's fault, this is a level or two up the internet food chain. CCP MAY be able to complain about poor hardware performance and help us resolve our issues, but maybe not. So run your own tests and hopefully we'll come up with something conclusive to point to.
