Hello everyone,
I want to ask the CCP to share with us some interesting statistics.
We all see that number of players going down and reason of this not a point of this thread. Of course we are all worried about our favorite game.
So.
How many active subscribers has EVE?
What is the average number of unique players per day (if 1 man have 3 accounts this doesnt mean that it is 3 unique players)? We do not need the exact figures. It can be something like "each player have 1.3 accounts" and etc.

Can you show us a bit of trust and share this statistics?
I believe that Eve did not die at all. But the other is no such certainty. Let's give it to them Cool

Here's something else for your jimmies. Smile

To my knowledge, CCP have gone all private, so there is no requirement to release any of the performance metrics to the public.

Obviously the numbers are bad else they would share them and hold tjhem up on a gaint stick and tout them about.

Also you can find 2014 eve financial report on fail-heap challenge eve forums and reddit.

Tldr it aint good and they just write off debt and vampire mmo

Spock logic states if the numbers were good, we the players and the media would know them

Ccp 2014 Company financials.
Past year
Most recent data

http://failheap-challenge.com/showthread.php?19641-CCP-2014-Financials

Sorry to burst your little optimism bubble. Also fromt hat thread dude summed some of the data up from the IRS.

Quote:

CCP Employment:
603 - 2010, December
553 - 2013, September
508 - 2013, December
339 - 2014, December (FML that bloodletting.)

Revenues down ~10% from 2013 to 2014 in all locations. (North America, Europe and Asia)

In game unused plex up ~30%. Must be a lot of plex hoarding going on.

Its called summer. People, even people that play eve go outside.

Our offices would normally have 30 people here, today it is 3. No our company is not dying. They are on holiday. Like the entire northern hemisphere is basically on holiday right now.

Explain why This summer is the LOWEST summer in 7 (SEVEN) years. Over half eve has been alive.

Not since 2008 summer numbers this low.
People are so debse, come sept people gonna say Global Warming is why login numbers are still low then

Well global warming is to blame for EVERYTHING else, as long as its bad. So you know you may be on to something there.... Right now its 39C in my office and i have no aircon...

More seriously. I didn't know that. I just don't see eve going anywhere soon. It has weathered many storms. But at the same time things like the isboxer uncertainties did cost a lot of accounts of people i know. I myself held off getting 4 more accounts. That is my little island of eve. Perhaps we are at a downturn. If CCP do it right however, eve won't be dying and as far as i am aware there is no legal obligation to share financial information or even things like total number of subscribers.

In 2014:

- 175,000 unique users per day
- 420,000 unique users per month

In 2015:

I don't know. Anywhere from 20 to 100% less (maybe 99% depending on who you listen to).

Overall probably 30-40% less than those figures.

A few things:

1) To CAM: The employee numbers being lower in 2014 are perfectly in line with the ending of WoD. remember before fan fest 2014 they let go of a ton of people as part of the restructure when they closed WoD. thats not new information and doesn't really mean anything execpt they, for all intents and pourposues, closed a studio. Thats not new infformation

2) Rev being down 10%

here is the problem with this, CCP has two games, Dust was chugging along in earily 2014, untill they screwed up and did the rouge wedding. This drove a ton of the dust player base away, as well as you had countless people asking for refunds from sony.

This would impact CCP's bottom line, the question however, is how much?

This is the problem. Its now difficult to see where the numbers are becuase you don;t knwo which game is causing the loss. In theory, from 5/14/13 (when dust went live) till 12/2013 dust might of contruibuted a good chunk of money. But it may not have. Then you have dust taking a hit last year, because it did, only to bounce back and now be profitable this year.

If ccp released the subscription numbers, and lets say they were not and are not currently down (more then likly they are, but not a smuch as people doom and gloom) then you coudol do simple math and figure out that dust was in fact hemoring money. So why announce it?

now on the flip side, you have things like a war on bots, jump fatige, fozzie sov, imput duplicaiton ban, etc that could be causeing some players to shed unneeded or unwated acocunts. This doens;t really mean eve is dying, just getting leaner. the PCU being low, you coudlk have lots of people who have accounts trianing while they wait for fozzie sov to hit in two weeks.

The point is, there are MANY factors that get into PCU and financials that we don;t have access to. I don;t think we will get a good picture at how well eve is doing untill the end of 2016 tbh. Becuase once the fozzie sov changes hit, sov phase 3. structures 2.0, cap rebaalance, you won;t see where the health of eve is till then. But if Valk drops next year, you might see a huge cash influx into eve. as i said next year will be the year for a better picture then this. This year is more of a trasition year, but we will see

*Disclaimer yes i am an eve fan boi, and ccp will take my money till eve closes or i die.

Yes and no. A lot of people have kids and its school holidays. In Europe, well in the bits i have lived in, its common to find a lot of people on holiday around now... even people you may need. Like say my doctor having a sign to go to this other doctor cus he is on holiday... only so was the other doctor :/

I get 5 weeks holiday. Where in NZ i only got 3.

Be realistic, they've had a lot more than just the WoD team leaving.

The reality is that outside of CCP noone will really know the truth, but reduced player counts is not a good thing. You can call it "becoming leaner" to sound overly optimistic, but a sub lost is a sub lost. I'm not a "EVE is dying OMG!" type of person, but I'm open to the reality that it's not a roaring success either. Changes need to be made to bring in more profit (and they are, see ship skins, auto-renewing paypal subs, etc). Sure, summer will be having some effect but if your honest about it, you know that's not all it is. EVE just isn't as much fun as it used to be. IMHO, there's too much focus on pleasing the most vocal groups and not enough on pushing entertaining game design.

All that aside though, CCP used to be alot more open which was something I loved about them, but that's slowly died off. We used to get information on subs and a lot more statistics, even data like the QEN which was great. Nowadays outside of fanfest we just get adhoc bits in dev blogs, twitter and reddit. I for one would love to see a return to the much more open CCP of old.

Eve had a good long run of subscriber growth - as long or longer than any MMO. While it was growing, they touted the growth. When it started its inevitable decline, they shut up and started hiding the numbers. There's a good reason for doing that. People leaving can have a snowball effect if it's too easy to see and quantify.

Population is noticeably down, which is why these threads keep popping up here, and on reddit, TMC, etc.

No reason to panic. Eve will likely go on for many years, but it'll go on as a mature game, where what goes on in game is less and less "emergent", and more predictable. EQ1 is still chugging along with its die-hard players. It's just not growing or attracting new players anymore.

The engine of growth for a game is either its "stickiness" or ability to retain players and get players to refer others, or it's paid growth. As with many mature products, CCP has had to rely on "paid" growth (advertising) more and more to attract new players these last few years, as retention and referral have declined.

Nothing stays "hot" forever folks. I wouldn't be surprised to see Eve get sold off to an investor group in the next year or so, as Sony did with SOE. Since it's CCP's only viable property these days, it'd be prudent for them to start thinking exit strategy.
