Eliminating the "safety system"

Proposal to the CSM:

I propose that the safety system restricting activities in high-sec be eliminated. the concept has a flaw- namely, that it often prevents people who are attempting to commit a criminal action in high-sec from actually carrying out that action, because nearby ships often latch upon the criminal or suspect symbol before any action can be taken and destroy the ship in question. This is especially evident in Jita, where high barriers to ganking exist because so many ships are nearby that would take advantage of the free-kill ability that a would-be ganker is destroyed often seconds after lowering security.

To eliminate this problem, I propose that criminal and suspect flags only be given after an act occurs, so that the act can actually be attempted. CONCORD would intervene as usual, as well as other players, but the "sitting-duck" problem that happens when several ships gang up against one would be eliminated until a criminal act occurred.

There is no reason to make changes to current safety system, only thing that would do is cause rookie pilots to become suspects and criminals by mistake, opening them up to be ganked.

You don't go suspect by switching safety settings, shooting and looting others do.

If a player want to gank others "red" safety and criminal tags are there for a reason.

In this system, warnings about weapon activation in High-Sec would exist, therefore warning rookies about the danger of doing such a thing. (Sorry I did not put this point in my original post).

But we already have the safety system, which works just fine. And again, setting yellow doesn't make you a suspect, the action of looting, shooting a deployable, or having a killright on you activated does. Setting red doesn't make you criminal, the action of illegally attacking someone does. So your issue with the safety system doesn't exist. Your proposed change is already what happens.

This has gotten the "really bad idea" award from everyone.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of this -- you can already set your safeties off and do as you please.

I think he wants a delay between the first criminal act and the flagging of the pilot as suspect or criminal.

And it is still a bad idea.

That and he is trying to push forward an assumption to argue the point that changing security settings triggers said criminal/suspect flags.
