Is this a thing? I see no documentation anywhere about how range would effect ECM jamming modules. ECM have a optimal however does it mean that the farther away from their optimal you are they less likely you will be jammed?

Edit: Reason asking is I see accuracy falloff almost the same at optimal range however most if not all ECM jamming boats seem to jam 2X or more their optimal range every time. Yes I understand signal strength plays a huge role however that should be cut in half when the ship is outside its accuracy falloff right?

falloff effects your chance to hit, or in this case for your ewar to apply. take a painter and use it in falloff and it has a chance to fail.

I'm not sure what order the server does the logic in, but you roll and then roll again to first see if the jam will hit, and then if it will apply. no idea what the rates are for falloff.

I'd assume it would be the same modifier that turrets use. At 1/2 optimal the chance to jam is cut in half (of what it is when in Optimal Range)

^ that would make sense

The short answer is yes, once you move out into falloff, your chance to jam starts to drop away, very rapidly.

In other words, ECM ships really need to keep inside their optimal range. ECM boats are already somewhat skill intensive, Long Distance Jamming V should be a priority for anyone who really enjoys the ECM path.

I'm in the odd position of having a 90km optimal in my Kitsune with an 81km lock range.
