When do a WH stabilish the connection and is available in the k162 side, when you go on grid or when you cross it?

Allegedly when you cross it.

I say Allegedly because there is no way to confirm that. Also they are suppose to have a timer which will cause the connection to open at some point regardless of whether someone has popped it or not.

Yaay!!!!

CCP Fozzie blogged about how it works around the Hyperion release:

http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/into-the-known-unknowns/

The K162 appears when someone warps through the wormhole, or the K162 will randomly spawn when there is less that 15 hours lifetime remaining if no one has jumped through yet.

It is not clear to me if the time-based condition will occur only if someone initiated a warp to a whole but didn't go through, or it would happen with no player interaction whatever. My guess is that is that you need to initiate warp so that the static side spawns first or the K162 will never spawn.

Seen enough holes popping up and going timecrit 1-2 hours later. Seems to work. The sigspawn doesn't seem to be delayed though, usually the sig pops up some minute before probes appear. Well possible the sig only pops up shortly after the intruder loaded grid, but certainly not long.

This wording is confusing. Warp to or jump through?

Before changes last year (or was it the beginning of this year?) I was constantly told by people that K162 formed when someone initiated warp to original hole.

Not sure if that was changed, although I need to refresh my knowledge at this point. I've resubbed recently and only keep s***posting on forums since then. That needs changing.

Sorry, that is confusing. Yes, jump through is what I meant.

You are correct - before this change the common view (which was likely correct) is that the K162 spawned when you initiated warp. Now, it only spawns for sure when you jump through or randomly some time after it spawns. This gives less time for someone trying to lock down a hole to respond to a new signature.

This is all part of a concerted effort by CCP to make wormhole space more dangerous.
