If you put something frozen into a fridge, which is of course set to a specific temp, can you say "I am just heating it up" ?

You can say whatever you like, doesn't mean it's correct Blink

why is it that in the hot countries, they have a siesta at the hottest times of day, but when it's just as hot in the UK, we have to keep working?

In a few moments you will have an experience that will seem completely real. It will be the result of your subconscious fears transformed to your conscious awareness.

Because the people of hot countries are smarter than your people.

I don't know and probably don't care. And no, I'm not wearing a brassiere.

While I do not remember (or even know) what day my animal overlords were birthed from the maw of a greater planetary demon, I do know what day they enslaved me, and what day they returned to their maker.

Yes. I once went to a really nice Chinese restaurant and ordered a 'bean curd' dish. Didn't know what bean curd was. Everybody else was having big prawns, twice-cooked pork, all kinds of good stuff, and I was eating tofu.

It depends on how desperate I am to sell myself.

I just read about it, so my favourite crime of his is probably when he killed a man on a piazza in Rome. Because I misread "piazza" for "pizza" at first, and pizza with murder topping sounds ballers as hell.

According to Einstein, nothing can travel faster than light. What would happen if you had a huge, tube-shaped spaceship traveling at lux 0,8 and a smaller spaceship inside, also traveling at lux 0,8 ?

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Nothing. If the speed was relative to the surrounding space, both ships would be moving at he same relative speed. If the smaller ship tried to accelerate to 0.8 c inside the large ship, it would never reach that speed, rather it would keep gaining speed (and mass) relative to the spacetime frame outside the larger ship until it reached a higher fraction of c. Can't give you the number, but probably the energy required to accelerate from 0 to 0.8 c would make you accelerate further from 0.8 c to something like 0.92 c.

(I could look for the exact formulas and make the calculation, but sincerely, my knwoledge consists of knowing what to look for and God helping, probabIy wouldn't botch it making the calculations)

Let's say that you're aboard a ship of the sailing era and after several months, all the ship cookies are infested by weevils. You see a small weevil and a large weevil fall from the same cookie, and you must eat one of the bugs. Which one would you pick and why?

I'd eat the small one. I always prefer my misery in smaller doses.

Speaking of Renaissance Italy, has anyone read amazing Benvenuto Cellini's and somewhat hard to believe autobiography?

Well, you're right. The answer I was hoping to get was "well, I'd eat the smaller one. In the Navy, we often must choose the lesser of two weevils".

But that's also factually right; older (and larger) weevils, on top of being weevils, tasted bitter...

And no, I haven't read Cellini's autobiography, but know of its fame for being less than realistic.

And now seriously: Scissors, rock or paper?

I feel very strongly about this.

Hypothermia > hyperthermia.
Though sweating is vital for survival, it's very unpleasant.
Snow is magical.
