So my friend did this.

And i hear a lot of people say tristan and drones are OP.

Are they really OP?
How does that happen?
My friend said they offered to ransom him for 50mill but after dude payed the OP drones kept attacking.


After the patch tuesday will the tristan and drone nerf be enough to stop this from happening again??

As someone who enjoys the (over)power of drones, I agree. Systems that are both flexible and powerful at the same time need to be reigned in (cough T3s cough).

Haha my first though. Good god he has 2 empty mids, and was using T1 drones. Could he even fly 5 drones at once?

T3 historically refers to the tech 3 Strategic Cruisers, which do have SP loss.

T3 Destroyers are probably referred to as T3D or somesuch acronym.

The fact that they are destroyable is a pretty big negative in certain situations. You can have most or all of your DPS removed in a 1v1 or 1vblob scenario by people tackling and primarying your drones, especially in a ship that doesn't have a 375/400m3 bay.

The problem of course is that this disadvantage becomes impossible to exploit the more drone boats are on field, or where you aren't able to kill the drones efficiently. Hence the ubiquitous "suddenly Ishtars." The two biggest disadvantages of drones, travel time and destructibility, go away due to numbers and sentries.

I am still sad though, I picked this game up a year and a half ago and quickly realized drones were the best weapon system in the game and also critical as a secondary DPS component on many hulls. So I bowed to the inevitable and started dumping SP into drones and their favored mother ships, the Gallente Vexor line. 7M of my 28M SP in them and NOW CCP decides they're too strong.

I am now trying to guess what I should train into that's not going to get hit with the nerf bat. I hear they're coming for T3's soon, specifically the Tengu.
