Hello.

I was just going to return to Eve Online, when I realized my computer could no longer handle the game.

I guess this is due to some updated graphics?

I do not have a good computer, but it was able to run it before.

It is:
msi b75ma-p45
G2120 intel
8 GB DDR3
Nvidia GTX650

What I now hope is that it will run decently if I upgrade my Nvidia GTX650.

Will it be enough to update the graphic card? If yes, any recommendations to a card not so expensive? This computer is only used for Eve Online, reading newspapers and watch netflix and it`s like. Nothing else. Not so keen on buying too expensive parts just fort one game - however, if I have to..

All other gaming is done on my xbone (BF4 and Forza mostly)..

Any help appreciated.

You can pick up a 750 ti very cheap. You might want to update your CPU too.

Houm, my computer is below your specs and runs 3 clients using memory-saving settings...

Intel Core 2 Q9300 @2.5Ghz
4 GB DDR2
GTX650 with 1Gb vRAM

...set shadows to "low" and no problem. Question

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you

yeah while that's not modern I would have thought it could run client ok on lower settings :-/ make sure you every thing set to minimum and then slide them up till it goes slow again, but 1 client on minimum i would have thought would be fine, make sure your system has all the drivers it needs.

Either this is a troll post or you're machine is severely compromised. Cleaning both the software and the hardware side of things is badly needed if it's the latter.

My e7200 (7 years old) with a Hd5770 1gb (6 years old) can handle 10 clients on low with 8gb ddr3. One client maxed out in a fleet fight of 70 or so ships does experience some frame rate drop depending on what is happening.

Yeah I would look into updating your drivers if you haven't already done so - my GTX560 Ti is only slightly faster than your GPU and I can run everything maxed just fine. That said lowering some options like the shadows might help also as a first aid.

All in all your rig seems similar to mine, again my i5-3450 CPU is only marginally better than your CPU, and as said, I can run everything maxed just fine. I would guess updating your Gfx card drivers will fix your problem though.

Your graphics card isn't the issue here, its your processor/Motherboard and possibly ram speed.

Low speed ram and a bad FSB could be causing a bottleneck.

I run with:
Mid range Asus MB
Intel Core i5
8GB 1600MHz Ram
GTX 560 Ti

I run 3 clients maxed graphics (Minus AA) with no slow downs at +60fps.

You know that would make some sense if eve actually required much in the way of hardware. I have 6-7 year old hardware that runs it very well.

His mobo/cpu and ram is fine it's something else that is seriously wrong. Eve doesn't require much in the way of CPU and RAM. It does hit the hard drive pretty hard in large battles though.

Well, better change your hd with an SSD.
You got enough RAM and 3GHz, that should suffice.

However, it depends how loaded you windows system is.
A clean install might prove wonders.
A fast videoboard might be no use, your CPU will be the bottleneck.

a Norman HDD, even an old one runs eve fine, don;t be daft, in fact most of what you said is daft, not being rude but for one client his setup is fine and what you are suggesting is overkill.

Turn of all effects. Select 90% UI. You'll get used to it in 1-2 months.

Doesn't everyone use 90% UI anyway?

Not to mention the CPU is nowhere near a bottleneck. I run 10 clients on a 7 year old dual core with little lag. What eve hits hard is the hard drive and if you're boxing the ram.

An old hdd might have hw errors.
Does not matter if norman, steward or oscar.
At least defrag and check for errors.
CPU bottleneck for a new videoboard or not, the 650 should be fine.
SSD are gettting cheaper and boost old systems a lot, even when they have not SATA 3 or SATA 6.

So if the system SHOULD be alright, whats so "daft" with a stuffed windows installation?

You are rude and you are suggesting nothing.

Wow.

So much response. TY :)

Well, to elaborate, my computer was fresh installed today with win 8.1. All drivers updated of course.

I do not seem to be able to add the integrated graphic driver, checked it up and sure enough, since OEM setup (komplett.no put together their own solutions) this can sometimes be an issue according to Intel help service others have used about the same issue.

I do remember vague now that I had issue before as well. I think I then switched from using the gtx650 with the integrated solution and that was when it ran good for me. however this was in windows 8, and I actually had the driver for the integrated graphics.

This probably mean that my gtx card is having some sort of an issue? Do you think my computer is strong enough to run this game on a high setting if I buy a decent, still not too expensive card? Like the one sugested; 750 ti

Here is a link to the actual computer in question:
https://www.komplett.no/product/777042 (all details is in English)

And again, thank you for taking the time. I do get to play, but all settings is on the lowest and it is still a bit slow. I can do some runs and some trading and such, but I won`t do danger right now, less alone a fight ..

EVE client has option in Display & Graphics called "Resource Cache Enabled". I would recommend activating this cache and then test if it runs more smoothly.

Then your system is botched, that will run at best settings, even in CQ.

Something is. It may or may not be the graphics card.
It could even be your sound card/integrated chip broken or bad drivers/settings, anything. Run diagnostic/performance tests etc.

I'm in it for the money

You should run EVE fine with those specs imo.

My PC is worse than OP but then I cut it down to OS + EVE + nothing and trimmed the OS also.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Yeah OP your rig can easily handle eve. Something else going on. Run windows update to update your drivers or do so manually then check back.
