I've been looking through the "show info" windows for various planets and I'm noticing a very wide range of escape velocities, yet, strangely, the "cost" to lift resources off the planets in question are always the same (i.e. zero). It would add an interesting element of realism to make it more expensive to lift materials from high gravity planets. This would create a dynamic in heavily populated areas where planets with low lifting costs would be more valued due to lower expense, but also have more people interacting through the depletion layer and thus be less productive. This would also help customs office builders to decide which planets would be good candidates for building/maintaining/protecting an office, since they would be the ones who would have to set the taxes to manage the lifting costs. This tax prorating could easily be applied by concord and interbus offices as well to make high sec planet management more interesting.
