Why is 0.5 better than 0.7 for mining? Size? Growth?

Can anyone tell me why 0.5 is better than 0.7 for mining? Max size of rocks? More growth in the downtime?

I've been mining in all kinds of security 1 to 0.5 with a little fleet of hulks. After clearing the system next day the asteroids contain little ore. If the system is not mined regularly, the ore builds up in asteroids. The same is in all security.

I cannot see the difference between say .7 and .5. And 1 from 0.5 differs only in types of ore it can spawn as far as I can see. I haven't found any explanation except that 0.5 is "better" for mining. Anyone knows actually why? Is it size or growth over DT?

Thanks in advance!

lower security has more rarer ores & the +5% & 10% variants. whether or not omber is worth more than scordite, depends on the markets.

As Adriana had mentioned there are fewer of the 5% and 10% ore variants. Also please be aware that constantly mining out an asteroid field will give you lower yields. Someone in the S&I forums found that it takes three downtimes to replenish an asteroid.

One other note on the security status. Concord will take longer to arrive to save you in a .5 system. That fleet of hulks may die horribly to CODE. if you are not careful. Good luck out there!

I thought .5-.7 was equivalent for mining. Other than maybe there is less competition in .5.

Yes I believe 0.5 to 0.7 is where Omber is spawned in Minmatar space, Kernite in Amarr space, & Plagioclase in Caldari space.

The rocks will potentially be larger in 0.5 than in 0.7 dependant on whether they have recovered in size.

You will find more of the 5% & 10% variants in 0.5 than in 0.7 systems.

CONCORD response times will be slower in 0.5 systems than in 0.7 systems.

Mine in .5 because it'll take Concord longer to respond. Pirate

Heya! I sent a petition requesting information about belt recharge mechanics. If anything relevant comes up, I'll post it here.

Sorry to tell you that the petition yielded nothing. The information isn't released and they're not giving it out of their hands. We can only research it together.

Thanks a lot! I'd be surprised if they told us. I think they don't know themselves (so many devs changed).

Of course someone knows. They just "want" us to figure ig out ourselves. People do that for all kinds of mechanics and so will I. I don't need THEM to help me!

The respawn rates seem to be.
Empty, like 0 rocks respawns 50% at DT.
non empty respawns 30% of size at DT.

I'd just like to point out that our Hulk demolition services are available to non-compliant miners in 0.7 systems as well as 0.5, and even apply in 1.0.

OP: Larger asteroid growth cap, higher absolute numbers of 105/110% ores, and sometimes less competition from other miners.
