Solo account so no alts to rely on, play style mainly pve.

I am currently doing exploration but find sometimes the need to change ships from astero to stratios and vice versa. I want to run sigs and anoms in high and low sec for starters and would like to get a nice balance in ship choice to be able to go into a 6/10 or 7/10 or even a 3/10 and not have to keep swapping ships
what 1 ship do you think would be most suitable for this? i was considering trying a rook puerly because it can not be seen on dscan, but am not sure if this ship type could run ded sites upto 7/10's i know it can run 5/10's :)

there's no one-ship-fits-all

EVE has this very basic principle: specialise in something and it will excel at it, try and make a jack of all trades and it will fail at everything.

I'd just go hop on the test server and find out if the Rook can do what you want with your skills if I were you. You can tweak your build there for almost free (only no faction/deadspace options available) - take it out, find a site, run it, tweak if needed, repeat. Then build one on live and have fun.

It still happens to be the right answer given then parameters. For high/low, a Stratios can run 3-5/6 depending on faction. A T3 can run 5-6. A CS can do 4-6, but also runs into mobility problems.

Hence, Stratios.

Ugh. Just looked at fits. It might do Guristas/Serpentis 5/10s but it's going to fail on anything larger (maybe Guristas 6/10s would work?). The absolute max damage I could get out of it with a semi-reasonable fit is 513 and that's kinetic locked Rage Hams (my skills, no drones). My Tengu gets that with CN Mjolnir heavies to thrice the range. The tank is adequate for kin/therm enemies but you'd run into trouble taking that into a BR 5/10 (for instance) even if you had the right hardeners for it.

So no, it really won't open up any options that a Stratios won't. It won't even do the smaller sites that you presumably are switching to an Astero to run. Literally the only thing going for it is the dscan immunity but unless you're hunting other players that's not even a huge benefit.

Yes, you need to use combats.

He's likely in Amarr empire space, so probably not. Here is a good vid on it a couple days old https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a41Qnu3Zyyc
But the x/10 range he's talking about is definitely more than a single ship, otherwise it would be an OP ship.

I'm in it for the money

sad thing is after trying both stratios and rook on test server the rook does seem to be more efficient and has a better tank

An ishtar with heavy drones could do it too. With one set of sentries in the bay for special occasions

So this is tested and it works. The price tag might make you think twice:

[Stratios, serp low 3-5 armor faction drone stuff]
Federation Navy Drone Damage Amplifier
Federation Navy Drone Damage Amplifier
Corpum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer
Corpum A-Type Energized Thermic Membrane
Corpum A-Type Energized Kinetic Membrane

Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Script
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Script
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Script
Cap Recharger II

Drone Link Augmentor II
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Sisters Core Probe Launcher, Sisters Core Scanner Probe

Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Garde II x4
Wasp II x4
Hornet II x5
Hornet II x5
Warden II x4
Warden II x1
Garde II x1

Feel free to downgrade the probe launcher. Not sure I'd actually lose any of the other bling. Last room of the 5/10 deserves a swap out for a suitcase (unfortunately for a DDA, which lengthens your time in room) to buy you enough time to blap the Sarpati Family Enforcer and gtfo. You could also consider plating instead of a suitcase.

4/10 you really want the Gardes out to take down the Phi Overseer (and in fact, with the current state of sentries, you could probably justify Ogres instead). Keep in the mind the Phi Overseer is the only (one of the only? only one I know of) Serpentis rats with high kinetic resists and only a thermal hole. Most Serps actually take more damage from kinetic.

3/10 just whip out the Hornets while chuckling to yourself about genocide. Consider carrying DNCs to swap out for the omnis here.

Unrated sites vary but the above techniques cover the spectrum of possibilities.

Oh, and don't touch the 6/10. Just... don't.
