But WHAT mission am I currently mining? I run ore, ice, and gas missions, and I have not reveled what type of mining mission I get the monolith with. My current mining mission has no monolith, so come show up and see for yourself.

I've seen a few of the monoliths till today, in scannable sites as well as some missions.

I never managed to force them to work any way, and sometimes we spent hours near them with corpies, repping, shooting, etc. We even brought a titan once to see if it can be dded... Didn't work.

I guess they just don't work.

The monolith is a publically broadcast beacon and it's location is on every eve wiki.

Uh...minor question here...how did you deal with the atmospheric decompression as you cracked your helmet open to physically put your tongue onto the monolith?

Funny that, the monolith is only there during 1 of the several missions I run at this location in space. So as soon as I talk to the agent and conclude the mission the monolith goes away. It is NOT persistent. However, it does show up EVERY time I run that particular mission.

I would grow my tongue back as well but I have gotten used to freaking out random people by following them around with an intense stare until they turn to complain. I then slowly open my blood filled mouth an let it run down my chin. So far 2 Heart Attacks and one person tried to bolt and slammed into a pillar right behind him.

As for How...

Nanobots. (They explain pretty much anything.)

So a list of sightings needs to be compiled so that some single character can visit all the places it show up and perhaps THAT is what is needed to 'make it work'?

This is UN-documented yet still present in the game - this is an Easter Egg, and it seems like it is up to the user base to figure it out on our own.

There have been reports of attempted destruction, it seems to be impervious. I currently lack skills to code break/analyze, and I was unable to salvage it - perhaps due to my basic skills there. I am skilling up, I know how to hunt them now, call me Ahab - cause I'm GONNA get that Whale!!!
