Am I missing something or is EVE server population getting lower and lower? I have been logging on and on average maybe 20k players are online. According to the server status monitor, the server population is lower then it has been in years. Is EVE losing its subs, or did I miss something?

It's summer, phoebe killed a lot of cyno alts, multiplexing changes killed a lot of multiplexing accounts, etc etc etc.

Am I missing something or are these 'Eve is dying' threads becoming less and less original? I have been logging on and on average there are maybe 5 of these a week. According to scientific research, Eve has been dying since 2003. Are the forums not trying anymore, or did I miss something?

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

You missed Eve playing itself out over the last dozen years. The slump that you're seeing right now is a combination of stasis in the 0.0 balance of power, the usual summer slump, and a drastic change to sov that was announced, and then delayed, basically freezing everyone in place waiting. Not tons of motivation to log in, or even keep a sub going, right now.

Fozziesov is also a big F-You to the older vets who have invested a lot of skill points and isk in super-caps, which now don't appear to have much if any role in sov warfare. Some of those may not bother coming back until that gets sorted out, if they ever do.

How many times has Eve died in the last 6 months? Like 15 or 20 if I count correctly. Currently 25k on now, was at 29k when I got home earlier.

I'm pretty sure at this point we're not even playing EVE. It's actually dead and we're playing an imaginary game.

Except all those accounts use PLEX, and the PLEX price has been increasing. That indicates PLEX demand is remaining high. If hordes of cyno alt and multiboxing accounts were being dropped, I'd expect the PLEX price to drop. We must instead be losing people who are willing to spend real money to create more PLEX.
Perhaps what we are losing is interest in supercaps. People are not buying PLEX for the goal of getting a super.

Once the new sov system hits, people will start escalating what they bring to win the contest, and supers will see use.

Wormhole people don't show up in the server status monitor. (The server status monitor essentially works by counting the people in local chat.) Given that the Drifter story arc is picking up, it's obvious that your missing players are spelunking in wormhole space.

tl;dr - EVE isn't dying. K-space is Dying. W-space is thriving. Why are you still in k-space?

As a new player coming to the forums I would not like to see 'game is dying'-threads about a game I'm about to start.
