Five month old producer seeks recommendations on a second career

I am a five month old Producer who seeks recommendations on a second career.

I continue to build a viable career as producer of weapons of mass destruction (Electron Bombs are a specialty). It's a lifestyle business which suits me just fine. However, I'd like to build a new character that actually uses weapons other than my formidable penny isk manipulations. Based on the amount of time I can give to the game, my advanced age, and worse-than-infant FPS-mode skills, I think something like a stand-off sniper or stealth bomber role is the most I could hope for.

I'm unable to make a standing firm commitment to specific play times or duration which is why no real corporation will have me for things like PvP warfare. Therefore, solo missioning is probably where I'll need to be content.

I'm Gallente ("fierce guardian of the human spirit…" and damned proud of it).

What would be a good ship / skill progression to take me from beginner to routinely successful L2 mission runner?

I'm a year ahead of you in game - also an industrialist and approaching retirement in real life. For level 2 missions I would recommend training for Gallente Assault Frigate - particularly Ishkur. Another option that requires cross training into Caldari is the Gurista Worm. For higher level missions Ishkurs big brother the Ishtar can handle level 3 and 4 missions, likewise Worms big brother the Gurista Gila. All of these are primarily drone platforms. For skills, look at the mastery tab in the ship information pane and plan the skills you'll need for Mastery level 3 - should take roughly 3 months for a new character to fly one of the frigates with level 3 mastery - add a couple of months for the cruisers. For the Gurista ships plan on training the racial frigate/cruiser skills to level 4 to get the hull bonus.

Do Little,

Thanks. Your input is helpful and at a useful amount of detail.

I like the Vexor myself.
The common theme with the ships mentioned so far, is going to be drones. Drones are a good train for all races, but especially Gallente. Get some good drone skills and you'll never regret it.
And then Hull skills. Frigate V, Cruiser V, etc. Hull skills are usually multi-bonused, and give you the most bang for the buck.
They can help tank, speed, rate of fire, range, open up T2 variants.

Not necessarily in that order ^.
It would be common to train hulls, drones, guns, tank, in stages or levels and work your way up.
All relevant skills to III, then to IV, and so on.

Another vote for the Vexor as a pathway to a Dominix. L2 is setting your goal pretty low as L4 is where you want to get.

As alternative, have you thought about FW? Gallente has some very strong corps that could bring you along at your own pace and some of them have an industry component. It might make for some good synergy with your main character and the time commitment can be in small doses.

I had not considered factional warfare. I've assumed, with nothing to substantiate it, that fw required specific time commitments..i.e...7:00 to 10:00 7 days per week.

I'll look further. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated.

Have you considered literature or probably painting? The arts are a good second carrer for industry minded people.

Painting, not so much. Writing is a better possibility but my specialite is in the performing arts.
