Firstly, 2x Plex in USD is 34.99, not 29.99, as you stated. Even with 10% off, we're not paying 29.99.

Secondly, you are getting 10% of your normal pricing - so yes, it's 10% off, which addresses the question in your subject.

Lastly, as to the discrepancy is pricing schemes. Let's boil it down to the simplest answer.

The prices are that way because that is the way CCP chooses to price their service. That's it. The reasons, at the end of the day, really don't matter. You either like the service enough to pay the price, you stop paying for the service, or you lobby CCP to change their pricing structure.

For the record, this thread is not considered lobbying for change. This is considered ranting. Lobbying for change would involve compelling reasons why CCP should change their pricing scheme and, in the process, make their business harder to manage.

The following reasons are not compelling:

1. I want them to. (No one cares what you, individually, want).
2. Everyone else does it (no they don't).
3. It's not fair. (LIfe isn't fair. Get used to it.)

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

In the EU, thanks to British intransigence, all purchases of digital and non digital items have to include VAT of the country of the purchaser.

Companies who sell to people in the EU must pay The VAT they collect at that countries rate to the country the purchaser lives in.

This means for multinational companies they have a department set up just for that. Most automatically show the correct Vat based on for the buyer's location.

Medium sized companies can use an agency to sort it all out and deal with all the other EU countries tax departments, all they need to do is pass the amount of sale, the 2 bits of evidence that confirms buyers location and the money.

Small companies cannot use the agency, so most will soon stop international sales, as they will have to deal with each tax department individually, which will be a nightmare and as the UK is the instigator of this madness, our customs and excise is already starting the crack down on companies who do not comply. They have yet to block a non-european company Website for selling in the UK for non payment of VAT but they have the power to do so.

To summarise even if you pay in dollars CCP will have to pay 21% VAT to the UK.
If you buy Plex from the USA that company will need to pay 21% VAT to the UK.

Posted from my phone.

As an american, VAT is 21% in the UK? I knew VAT existed, but christ, how are you people OK with so many taxes?

They don't have to pay for things such as 'health care' as they get it "FREE" (chortle).

Being English, but living in Massachusetts where there's huge bridge repair urgency, I was sort of curious:

Nope, seems 'Bridges' as an Engineering piece of work, all need repairs. Especially after the crazy weather lately :-/

VAT in the UK is 20%. Where does the rest of the ~50% price hike come from?

Guess CCP needs to just connect your Pound into one of the major currencies.

BTW (LOL Big smile ), looks like your country is also gonna leave EU, best of luck for you trying to survive when open markets of Europe closes for you, and when you don´t get anymore badly needed (cheap) foreign labor force...

as an American who lived over there, it really isn't that bad. especially since everything is added in the price sticker and doesn't get added in at the register like with sales tax. Then again I mostly bought beer, but I don't remember being shocked at the price of anything.

Greece problem should be already isolated, it might have been my writings on Finnish newspapers before elections that bought 4 years extra time for rest of Europe (banks and govs+investors) to minimalize risks there...
