World map control panel missing

While I'm in space, if I go to the map ( the original one) and switch from star map to solar system map, or vice versa, the World Map Control Panel disappears and I am unable to switch back to the solar system map.
This is happening every time and makes probing and set a wormhole impossible!
This needs to be fixed immediately and is a game breaking performance issue.

Also just using the new map isn't an option because it is absolutely terrible for probing in.
