Eve launcher blocks the internet. Seriously. PLEASE READ CCP.

So, after waiting the apparently "standard" 2 days for the client/launcher to update for us players on the US East Coast and playing Eve for a few days, I had to delete my cache and do a repair for an unrelated issue involving Eve chewing up my entire SSD.

And now, we are back in the same boat... Not only will it not download... it BLOCKS THE INTERNET(as I stated before, but everyone ignored). The ONLY sites that work are ones run by google.

Ebay does not work, EveGate does not work, dslreports does not work, nothing works as long as the launcher is open.

I REFUSE to believe the story that this is related to something external to the launcher, as CCP and others seem to think. The launcher itself is the issue. The MOMENT the launcher is closed, all internet access is restored instantly. I have tested this over and over...

Explain, CCP.

Seriously, what is your launcher doing that it blocks access to the internet for my PC? It's as though it's hijacking DNS and only allowing google sites through.

Just because you refuse to accept something doesn't mean it's not true.

What have you done to trace the issue?nbecause from reading your post it sounds like you deleted a needed Eve file which is playing wonky with your system. Technology is fickle about such things. I would uninstall Eve run a Regestry repair restart my computer then check if I have the same issues. Then reinstall eve.

Also

What firewall, ISp, anti virus, and antimalware are you using?
Operating system? When's the last time you did a scan?

Have you tried turning it off and on?

My refusal to accept it being external is based on clear evidence.

Seriously though, "Technology is fickle about such things"? Programs aren't fickle about anything. They do exactly what they are told.

In case you missed it, this was happening before I cleared the cache file, after the first installation, but before the launcher was functioning. No file was deleted making eve go "wonky". It was like that from the start.

There is no firewall or antivirus active on my PC. Most of the time I even disable the built in one because it simply hinders me. Strangely, I manage to avoid viruses by using common sense. Aside from legitimate programs failing at their intended design, my PC runs flawlessly. I am behind a hardware firewall, which has already been checked, and unless Eve is hijacking it, can't be the issue. You may think I sound arrogant, but I really just have common sense, technical skill, and get tired of the pseudo-techie "when did you last run a scan?" BS.

I have run traces to several sites both while the launcher is active and while closed, they all look identical, to the letter. The issue persists on all web browsers on my machine. Chrome, FFox, and IE. And all of them function perfectly the moment the launcher closes.

The launcher is doing something. There is no question.

Update:

This is only an issue with the "online" installer.

There is no network activity while the launcher is open, so it's not doing something in the background to hog my connection, it's simply shutting it off.

Since ping/tracert still functions, I assume it only effects certain ports.
