I find fascinating the need of some gallenteans for auto-inflicted body abuse made in the name of "freedom".

For the record, this is not an example of "Gallente culture."

This is an example of an individual's fetish(es) and self expression, nothing more and nothing less.

While the Federation (and Gallente culture) may not actively discourage this form of expression (to do so would be rather antithetical to what it stands for, after all), it is, in no way, reflective of the culture at large.

From a personal viewpoint: down with this sort of thing.

It is an example of Gallente culture. At least a specific subset of Gallente culture. Body modding is a life style, a hobby, an art form and is practiced by many. It's not as prevalent as Minmatar tattoos, but it is not uncommon.
At its heart, the Federation ensures the freedom for individual expression and all that expression therein is an example of Gallente culture.
The secret to 'Gallente culture' is that there is no 'Gallente culture' just a myriad of groups living together, bound by a common desire of freedom and mutual respect.

It's an example of what Gallente culture can produce, but not an example of the culture itself, mademoiselle.

An example of the culture itself would be found more clearly in the traditions, holidays and education. A culture is not reflected in the practices of a subgroup within that culture, even a culture as individually focused as the Federation, it is reflected in the collected mentality, practices and lifestyles of the collective group as a whole.

Thus, while your preferences may be reflective of a small sub-culture within the greater Gallente culture, the greater Gallente culture would be more clearly demonstrated by putting together multiple sub-cultures and examining the threads they have in common which can be traced back to cultural origin.

Lastly, there most certainly is a "Gallente culture." A careful study of the commonalities between ethnic groups and sub-cultures living within the Federation would paint a very clear picture of that culture.

Working too hard is sub-optimal and can lead to all sorts of problems. It is vitally important not to complete some projects too early, especially where this might lead your co-workers to have problems finishing THEIR project.

This is a disgusting display of shameful genetic manipulation and utter disregard for modesty.

You lack decency in even how you treat your body. And then you post such wicked things on a public forum.

What you do to desecrate your body should stay private, and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing it here. Rather doing it at all!

You are obviously simply a delusional scientist with a pain fetish. There is nothing to be proud of about your work, and such a clone should be jumped out of and biomassed if you have any remaining self-respect (which I highly doubt). God gave you a body as he saw fit, and what you have done is an abomination.

This is a pathetic cry for help and you need a real doctor.
