They're making sure you're not drunk, on the "wrong" drugs or suffering from something you picked up in a Minmatar house of ill repute.

All of the Matari houses are of honorable repute. Stop spreading these disgusting slaver lies!

Dude. We get tetanus just by scraping elbows against corridor walls in our ships...

OT: we players are the collateral victims of the endless war between "gameplay" and "realism". Apple-growing oaks, amirite ?

Here comes a time, ganker,

When blingfits cease to sparkle,

When hermophite looses its luster,

When the station hangar becomes a prison

And all that is left is a capsuleer's love for his fedo.

Robots? Dude, we don't have CELL PHONES, you have to dock in a station to talk to an agent before you get into your faster than light space ship, undock and travel to a whole other solar system to kill (NPC) Pirates with space weapons.

Well, we have local and chat conversations where we can speak to everyone in the entire star system.

Apparantly agents are forbitdden to use this chat or have to personally identify the capsuleer they trust with demanding tasks like killing ten rats.

At the risk of being the nerdiest guy in the thread AGAIN:

Capsuleers are all already tied into the subspace network which channels information through the gate network via entangled relays. Local chat (and things like corp chat, and the player market) are us misappropriating the network that's made to dump our consciousness to backup clones to bounce text-messages at each other. With the capsuleers playing the role of both hardware and software. Importantly, the only 'recievers' on the network are _other capsuleers_.

For the cost of making a "relay" to tie a station in a subspace network, you'd have to make a capsuleer. If you have that much currency lying around, it'd be easier to just buy the entire station and everything in it so you don't even have to worry about what containers are yours. And the planet it orbits. And the rest of the region. Also your relay would be the most literally legally independent being in existence, who can just wander off whenever he wants and _literally_ isn't subject to recourse in any empire's law. Plus all capsuleers are kinda megalomaniacal psychopaths, to I'm not sure you really want to put them in charge of managing your mission rewards or your private inventories.

(This is also why the NPCs can't participate in the market, and back when they could only with simple fixed-priced standing orders, and why you can only hear NPCs in local when you're on grid with them and have basically no radio-lag. It also explains things like why copying a damned blueprint takes time, every time they need to ask a question of a scientist in another system to make sure the copy's right they have to pass a flash drive to a courier in a warp shuttle or something. Research failure is probably that shuttle courier getting killed by gate-campers.)
