Who Else Would Like to See an Eve Online Movie or Series

I have always wondered why CCP has yet to use their CGI and Animation skills to create a video series that gave an in-depth explanation of Eve's back story, while at the same time showing the things we love about eve. Things like large scale battles, epic explosions, as well as an epic sense of humor. They could do almost anything with the series. I have watched CCP make awesome video trailers and capture great footage for events that they hold and I know that they would be capable of accomplishing such a task. This would not only provide the existing community of eve online with something else to discuss and enjoy but it could serve as a way to recruit new players into eve, by giving them a visual taste of what eve is and can be. Usually when space ships and explosions are involved you get peoples attention.

PS: Really I just want to see the 200 and some odd ships in eve clash in an inconceivably large battles, because space ships are awesome, explosions are awesome, and Eve is awesome. Now lets do the math, Awesome space ships+ Awesome explosions+ the awesome world of eve = A series that any person who loves spaceships would watch.

Or am I the only one who thinks an Eve Online Movie or Series is an great idea?

Just at a quick thought:

If CCP were to devote resources to that, how does it help their business? The best I can think is that it would be a very elaborate marketing campaign, since they already earn revenue from existing players. So it might work to bring back people currently winning Eve, or to attract new customers.

However, if it was to attract new customers, would the additional resources required to do that match any additional benefit they would derive from it? The written chronicles already provide a background on Eve and the partnership recently to produce comic based true stories has built on that for existing players.

So, I'm not sure much would be gained from a business perspective.

On other aspects:

- players already provide the best videos of fights in Eve
- the shorter trailers (eg. This Is Eve) already showcase the game well
- should a small game company also become a film production company?

I personally think it would be a cool idea. I'd love it as a way to consume additional Eve material, just not sure I can see much opportunity in it from a business perspective, not at least unless it was shown somewhere mainstream where it could have a major impact in relation to marketing.

While i appreciate the enthusiasm behind the idea, I'll vote no. I Would rather prefer the resources get invested into Eve. Supporting devs and our little game of internet spaceships.

I find myself watching most "space" movies in an effort to imagine it in influenced by EVE somehow. Be it politics, or just visuals. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time about 2 hours ago and caught myself thinking, heh.. that looks like Gal Space, and.. wow, I wish our docking procedures and stations looked/felt like that. Also at another point I said out loud to my dog... " that looks like an EVE corpse after being podded, hah".

I hear that "Expanse" will be similar in some fashion also..

Im not sure it would be profitable, but sure!! I know that a solid cut used as a promo in the theatre before a proper space film could possibly do better, but who knows how much a spot costs for 30 seconds in the 15 min prior to a feature. It can be so hard to keep subs too... and that would be the only reason I see that would warrant such an effort. To advertise.

for now, the Rooks and Kings, This is EVE, The Scope, style videos must suffice. Some of the more artistic types playing EVE could likely make a movie though... Id probably spend around $1 for a full lenghth film, even knowing it would be pirated(pun?) within hours, but I like to support induvidual artistry.

^This! Plus one for you! I always thought a CGI movie or mini/full-feature series would be amazing to watch. The universe of this game is very rich in lore and would be a great watch. Big smile

Whilst it might be fun, I'd selfishly prefer that CCP invest the money in more devs for EVE the game.

A TV series might be the best media.
But it would need courage.
Season one about earth empire and the wormhole to new eden with a dramatic finale, when the wormhole collapses.
season two: stories about new eden and how it grew into the empire space.
season three: new eden as it can be played. FInally this certain mittani story can be told. more details and little stuff about the empire and its people. stories about capsuleers and plain crew members.

Not so much taking from the game, thaen creating a deep satisfiing lore, in addition, to what already exists.
Why courage?
actors only can survive one season MAX!!

sorry for those fraggin typos but the ipad browser is a *****!

You might want to spread this around.

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

A tv series would be nice but instead of just focussing on player tales they could do something based on the history of the empires the caldari - gallente war the jove amarr warr the ninmatar rising, the invention of warp and jump gates stuff like that , think abaut it as a prequel abaut the mos intresting stuff that have happened in new eden on the last 1000 years.

Yeah right...

Who wants to watch a movie primarily about scamming jerks, miners getting ganked, and sitting around for 3 hours to go on a roam where 5 minutes into the thing the FC docks up to change his kids diaper...and this all the while the viewers favorite ship gets nerfed every week...
