piracy isnt really a career as such, you probably wont make any money from piracy itself unless your ganking freighters, most pirates have alts to do money making things (faction warfare missions etc), also dont get too attached to highsec, being a pirate will mean dropping to -10.0 eventually and you wont be able to do much in highsec.

but as Fal (who i would like to be my slave) said ewar is a good choice to train especially the maulus which is useful in any fleet

You don't actually need an alt in order to do FW as a pirate. Generally the war offices are something like one jump in from low-sec, you can hop in, warp directly to station, and warp directly out again without any real issue even with -10 sec status.

Plus, if you're not pirate-ing hard enough to tank your sec status, being in FW makes a lot of targets in high-sec completely legal that may not actually realize there are any enemies in-system with them. And it's not like the empire navies can be any _more_ after you if your sec status _is_ tanked, so you can always dive in like a madman and escape before the fuzz show up, and it's not bannable like avoiding CONCORD.

Basically there's no reason NOT to pick an FW side if you're rolling pirate anyhow.

This. Really FW is legal piracy. You realize that the first time you jump through a gate camp with a bunch of red flashies that the only difference between a gate camp of war targets and a gate camp of neutral pirates is that the ships are flashing red and the other doesnt. That's about it.

Join Amarr side faction war. They're always chasing around the abundance of Minmatar FW farmers and plexing fleets, are highly active and organized, you'll be able to learn to operate in low sec (and get to know whose who among pirate corps), gets lot of opportunity at PvP, and you won't trash your security standing and be banned from Hi Sec so early in your career....access to trade hubs is real nice when needed to restock ammo etc.

Also, you can make some money in FW, but most money is made on the Minmatar side currently, which explains the abundance of targets to shoot. But unlike pirates, your targets will be more able to fight back Cool

Well either way works, i prefer to be on nobodies side when being a pirate

I think Cyrus means that pirates' targets don't fight back (compared to targets in FW) not pirates themselves :)

Think he means your fw targets can engage you anywhere. Pirates who are not part of fw have to fight off gate, station and highsec. Of course there are exemptions

yeah i get that, being a fw pirate means you are restricted to the opposing faction as targets though, i prefer to be able to engage anyone i want in lowsec without having to worry about murdering my own faction.

been a while since i was in fw but are you saying you dont take gateguns when attacking fw targets?

You generally don't take gateguns when attacking a legal target. If you are enlisted in FW the opposing faction's ships are legal war targets. As a neutral you have to deal with guns unless the target is flashy or perma-red.

I'm my own NPC alt.
