Which is exactly the true goal of the visa program. Force them into a small corner of the job market so they can help to lower wages and benefits in that sector.

Your friend said he is willing to work for taco bell which unless I am mistaken is a near to minimum wage job. Therefore you can't tell me he/she would not do the same in an EE job. Heck I would be surprised if most of those jobs arent already just about starting minimum wage with high turnover.

Your friend needs to understand. We WISH we could have our hands open to everyone in this world would like better opportunity but we can't. The idiots in congress decided that mass outsourcing was a good thing some went on an offensive against the unions and now as a result we are sitting on high unemployment and in the first time in our history are having a "jobless recovery"

This is why we must end these visa types. Because it makes people like your friend desperate and that ruins things for everyone else.

Did your friend ever think of starting his own small business in electrical/electronics repair to use his electrical engineering degree? Or is that way out of your friends field?

I am of course assuming immigration would consider self employment use of a degree as something that could extend a visa.

When it comes to PvP, I am like a chiwawa hanging from a grizzley bears pair of wrinklies for dear life.

So he cant realize that the CEOs who pay them selves millions in bonuses derived from how many employees they can lay off to do so.
How Wall street spent billions of peoples retirements and money to pay them selves 100 million bonuses even after they received even more money from the tax payers.
How the billionaries received tax breaks so they produce jobs but instead they pocketed the cash and lay off more people so they can pay themselves even more.

It was half a joke on the EE job tho his friend seems to be willing to work for that little.

And they arent rare. It is over 100k per year.

Here's a suggestion:

1) Return to Hellish part of India

2) Get job in nicer area of India and move there.

Name a shrub after me.  Something prickly and hard to eradicate.

Well, if things dont work out in the US for him he can always try Panama.

Lots of people from India here so he would have a feeling of community, lots of new job openings for several big projects, food is cheap and country is not that big and very safe compared to other countries in latinamerica.

Lots and lots of USA expats here too, if he feels more inclined to bond with people from the USA. Local currency is the US$ too so no funny money changing and gas and food is sold in gallons and pounds.
