Fellow pilots,

On YC117.6.16, the JE Emergent Event Analysis Branch hosted a press conference on the subject of the Drifter Hive systems and the completion of exploration of the Hive Complexes by the combined fleet composed of CAIN, FCORD, IKAME, JLAB, SFRIM, and other independent pilots.

During the conference, three subjects were expanded upon:

The mysterious "Elements" recovered from within the sites:

The revelation of the "Jove Corpses" within the Sleeper Enclaves:

And the announcement of the EEAB of JE's, along with multiple pilots from the Combined Fleet, call to the Empire space-based Corporations of the Jove Directorate: Genolution, X-Sense, and Impro, for consideration of contact and, possibly, cooperative analysis of recovered information and materials:

Further information on the Jove Corpses will be provided at a later date; research has been undertaken. More information will be provided on all related subjects as analysis continues and data is made available.

It should be noted that no response from Directorate agents are expected in response to the call for contact; however, if there was ever a time for the silence to be broken, that time is now.

Having kept tabs on these developments, I firmly believe that our understanding of these elements is imperative to our current situation in regards to the Drifters. If we can find a way to use these to defend against the Drifters, whether it be increased protection for our vessels or a weapon against them, we need to know.

I ask that the remaining Jovian-owned corporations offer their assistance in analyzing these elements for the good of the cluster.

I third the call for the Directorate-affiliated corporations to be forthcoming with any information they may have.

If they don't have any... Then tell us you don't!

Certainly; as of now, though we have little in-depth information, we have recorded reported side effects experienced by researchers and pilots.

Electronic systems in their immediate vicinity are heavily affected. The Elements emit a powerful signal that distorts and disrupts systems violently, sometimes causing total system failure. Shielded and more stable analysis equipment reveals nothing more than violent static and indecipherable signals before themselves failing, save for the seemingly virulent memetic concept that repeatedly surfaces in the maelstrom.

As for the mental effect; being in the presence of the elements will exponentially affect a person. Concentration becomes difficult, thought becomes more laborious, and short-term memory loss may occur in addition to a steadily increasing headache, to the point where the subject cannot remain in their presence.

The effects subside upon leaving their proximity, though they linger for varying amounts of time. Some lucky few found that they experience no adverse effects in close proximity; however, every subject reported a feeling of "intrusion", as if their minds were being "grasped" by whatever the Elements are, in addition to hearing or, rather, feeling the Elements' respective memetic phrase.

Research is underway as we speak. Progress is slow, but it is progress nonetheless. We are not optimistic that Genolution, X-Sense or Impro, which remain active and functional in Empire space, will open contact; however, they are our best bet for discerning the Elements' function and purpose as soon as possible.

Update: All information and materials have been successfully gathered at a Genolution-operated facility, the location of which will not be publicly disclosed for security's sake.

In the hangar lies biomass from Ambassador Misu Baniya, the collected observatory logs, and the Elements themselves, all of which have been gathered for the sake of convenience should any collaboration be undertaken.

Fortunately, several of the expeditionary group have cached full sets of elements in a variety of locations. We should be largely proof against Drifter intervention, though they've also shown no interest in trying to penetrate DED-grade shielding.

I keep wondering to these Elements' purpose in the Hives and Drifter space as a whole. I've wondered if these Elements interface with the static signatures present in each of the five wormholes thus far sighted. I don't know if anyone would be interested in testing this, but I'd suggest keeping it in mind.

They definitely relate to something within the Hive complexes - and they are most certainly very important for some reason. I believe they do in fact affect something. The theory being worked with as of now by myself, Miss Priano, and others, is that they function as some sort of infomorph router - at least partially. Research is underway, but without an idea of what to look for or be careful of, we may not get far; that is one reason for the call to the Empire Space Corporations.


Though I have indeed attempted contact, Veniel was the only true Jove, of the Modifier bloodline, that I could locate in CONCORD's database, However, even he has now been removed from it. I would hope that he is not gone: rather, he and others may be observing unfolding events just as we are.
