Just saw this thread, I'm in Lee County.

If it's an organized LAN party that folks might be interested in attending, instead of meeting at a bar or strip club, I went through my links and found a couple with upcoming events. SLAGG in Bradenton on the 21 of this month and PNPLAN in Largo with an event scheduled for 3/24.
There used to be quite a few LANs around the state, from Miami to Jax, but of the links I have seems those are the only two that are still active. What?

I know these aren't in an optimal location for a lot of people so what are some other options?

I vote for a Central FL bar gathering... we all play the game, no need for a lan party really. So why not just meet up, have a few beers, and converse with new people about the game we all enjoy.
