Are there any plans to update the EVE Launcher into something that can reliably start the client? If so, what kind of timescale are we looking at here?

It will be interesting to see what comes from this.

Much appreciated, Mike. If we must have a launcher, as apparently we do, then it really needs to be very reliable. Which it definitely isn't right now.

We're talking with them about the launcher. I have a list of, umm, requests (demands is probably a touch too strong.) for updates for the launcher, wrt use with multiboxing.

Please also ask if it is possible to access SiSi next to TQ through the launcher, if not currently implemented Cool

Eve online is :

A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online

D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

3rd day in a row when I've got home and the launcher does not in fact want to launch a client.

Just in case CCP are still puzzling for reasons why log in numbers are down, have they considered that maybe **** like this is a contributing factor?

Out of completely idle curiosity, are you trying to run EVE from a vanilla user account, or from an account with admin access?

oh please yes please: multiple account logins on a single screen, resulting in [Launch: account1] [Launch: account2] ....

Separately, if 2-factor auth is considered more secure.... could it extend the launcher login token's Time To Live?

Hell, even managing two log ins is a wholly unnecessary pain in the arse with the current launcher.

"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong"

I can, of course, connect just fine without using the launcher.

Today it is v.2.2.950061

Today it works v0v

But honestly this constant roulette is bloody draining. Will it work? Will it the launch button just stay greyed out? Will it let me think it's going to work and then yank the ball away like Lucy does to Charlie Brown? I have no idea what it will do when I come home after a horrible day at work, and no way to tell when I start my PC, and no idea what to do when it acts up, and even less will to deal with this worthless piece of ****.

I'm not a programmer, so until now I naively assumed that setting a button to reliably call a specific .exe file in a defined location was a fairly easy coding task. But since 4 years of - what I assume is - sustained effort hasn't yielded such a result, I'm forced to conclude it isn't.

I strongly recommend that CCP go back to first principles and have an open table rethink on what the launcher is supposed to be for and what the "user stories" are supposed to be. Because 3 times in the last 10 days, my Launcher user story has been "**** it, I'm not dealing with this ****" and instead of playing EVE I've gone and done something else.

Multi client support would be super sweet. Skill queue visbility would be great. Single sign on would be just lovely. But most of all I don't want it to make me feel tired and annoyed and walk away from the PC.

Another day, another failure of the launcher. It seems to spawn the client, but doesn't get as far as character selection. Just sits there with the spinny blue circle "processing bulk date" or whatever. Client v2.2.950061

Logging in directly through eve.exe works fine, needless to say.
