It was old. No name sufficed a being such as he. It would have none.

It had seen the rise and fall of empires.

Thousands of years on Luminaire, waiting. Waiting for the primitives to reattain spaceflight. Waiting for freedom. Hard years without the technologies to sustain itself properly.

It had turned to blood.

Human blood.

It's unique metabolism was able to adapt the genetic material stored within the coppery ambrosia. Allowing it to survive the millenia. Yearning for a return to Nirvana. Or a reasonable approximation of a vague recollection in it's mind.

It may be an insane god in it's own musing, as there was nothing it could speak to on the subject. It had no peers.

One day it boarded a passenger freighter bound for Villaire.

It crept aboard as the passengers boarded. It's synthetic skin bending light, making it appear as little more than a heat distortion in the noon sun over Luminaire.

The ship and it's entire complement of of passengers and crew were never heard from again.

It was free.

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.
