I'm glad you brought this up.

When the big hyperdunking thread came and went, I looked into some of the facts pointed out in it and realized something that I had not realized before, and I've been at this since 2006.

Highsec has a gank pipeline and very rich PVP.

Albeit, different PVP than what you find elsewhere. All of the rules would differ.

I found this odd. From way back it was always "you want PVP, leave highsec". I never thought that the mechanics of low and null, of which I have seen 8 years worth of complaints about, have driven PVPers into highsec.

Nullsec is a huge pain in the ass to live in and PVP in. But highsec... even the wardec crowd gets to camp and roam about looking for targets in bubblecamp and deathcamp free peace.

And I have found myself being grateful for the gankers because without them I probably would have left the game by now.

Hopefully I will get more time to play during this burn Amarr thing. Where I live this time of year is the best time to get outside and get all of those things done that can't get done for the other 10 months of the year when it's raining all of the damned time.

On "good" days the amount of destroyed ships/hour is superior to the most violent zero-zero regions and whenever I haul stuff through h-sec on my other char I see more "camps" than in zero-zero. And that´s not counting CODE and similar entities.
Jita might not be the best reference here but today there were ~14kills within 1hour after downtime and the pipes to and from Jita are usually pretty pvp rich as you call it. High-Sec is like a mega city. It seems to be safe but more often than not it is not and that´s the reason I am more afraid of h-sec than any other region. You never know who just got a brainfart and goes for your hauler or simply wants to lure you into some crap or simply enjoys blowing your travel ship up.

and how many of those are goon alts?

I can neither confirm nor deny that I am, or am not, the alt (or not!) of a Goon or non-Goon player.

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

To be fair, the population differential might be a huge issue there. Hisec PVP involves:

-random dueling
-killmail bait traps
-suicide ganks
-hisec corp wardecs
-random burn campaigns

There kind of has to be a lot of it there. Hisec has such a large amount of the population that it's pulled in the PVPers, and since they aren't in nullsec, the kills aren't happening out there.

It may not be optimal to have those sources be such prominent PVP sources, but such is the state of the game.

General Highsec masses... Years ago, we literally left your foolish place to go play by ourselves in Providence. Now, we beg you to help us in his struggle against the Imperium. I regret that I am unable to present my coalition's request to you in person, but our solitude has fallen under attack by NC. and I'm afraid my mission to bring you all to Providence has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of our favored trade hub into the text of this thread. Anyone with limited knowledge of the English language will know how to retrieve it. You must see this thread safely delivered past the goon forum alts and into the hands of carebears. This is our most desperate hour. Help us, Highsec. You're Amarr's only hope. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Main reason I always fit my Orca for maximum tank Lol Sadly, most people don't seem to realise HS is just as dangerous as low or null and they end up paying the price for it. Darwinism at its finest.

Burn Amarr should be very entertaining. I'll probably sit back in my cloaky falcon and watch the fireworks Big smile

There was more destruction in one battle in null than in all of highsec combined for a month.
