I have been with Eve since 2008 off and on, wouldn't it be a good idea to have a pvp only server and a pve only server?
Those that have extreme skills and abilities can pray on each other, not on poor haulers or miners who provide the resources to build the very ships and fittings they gank us with.
IF Eve had a pve only server I would sub for life.
I like to relax when I play a game not worry about losing everything to some nozzle.

Have a nice day.

Nope. Bad idea.

The economy /depends/ on pvp kills.

I hear what you mean, but Eve is not this place. Eve brings everything with it in terms of Pvp/pve. There are ways to avoid pvp, but its generally always going to be right around the corner. It's the kind of thing where one doesn't really work great without the other.

Play it safe, watch, local, make decent friends, and just try your best to be aware. Pve is really great but you might find given time you like pvp too. Get an inexpensive ship / fit and fly with others. You might find you like it.

Best of luck though.

No. You can mine/build/whatever on the test server without fear of non-consensual PvP. It is explicitly banned there in fact.

Otherwise, you are kind of stuck with it on Tranquility. Everything, and I mean everything that is interesting or meaningful in this game is because there is a risk of loss. If that is too stressful for perhaps you should consider a new profession other than mining or hauling. If you lose a few ships pirating or whatever, you might get over your fear of loss.

If that doesn't work, I suggest you try a non-PvP game where you can relax properly.

I think you're missing the point of EvE. Its a single shard universe. Single. Singular. One. There is one world and we all live in it. Sounds a little similar to the real world which is kind of the point.

Some people still don't get that every single minuscule action you carry out on TQ actually does effect the game as a whole. Only in microscopic ways most of the time but every now and then a single action can have a macroscopic effect. And this is the whole point.

How much you mission run and generate in game stuff (loot/LP/Salvage) effects the market for everyone else.

How much you mine effects the mineral market.

How much you trade effects the economy.

How much you PvP effects the economy.

It all comes back to what the game is essentially based around. Which is the economy.

So, quit your bitchin'. Get out there and mess with the status quo.

The only thing that has ever made PvE even slightly bearable in this game is that element of risk being on a single shard brings to it.

Obligatory WoW is that way post.

Your PvE depends on my PvP which depends on your PvE. Take out one and the whole system collapses. Its a dirty angry wheel.

I'd rather the servers go cold tomorrow.

So if it's PvE only, do you want no player interaction or competition? This includes all PvP, not just the limited subset you've assigned to it.

You do have an option very close to what you ask for and that currently is SiSi. Knock yourself out. Otherwise, no.

I don't know of, or can't imagine, there is any large contingent of people who want this to exist. As stated elsewhere, PVE and PVP in EVE rely on each other. And to be honest, the PVE isn't even that good -- why would you want to play it?

This sums it up perfectly.

Another way of saying it would be that in Eve, if you are successfully PVEing... Avoiding being whacked by other players should be a big part of the fun youre having... Making a ton of ISK at site "X" is great.... But seeing the gank party about to ruin your day on D-Scan, then warping out just in time is even more fun.

If thats not your type of party, Eve may not be for you.

When I first started Eve, I thought the same way you did, Sara. However, upon analyzing the structure of the game, you'll start to learn why this is a bad idea.

Most people claim that Eve is a PvP game. It's not. It's also not a PvE game. It's a game where PvP and PvE combine to create the wonderful universe we live in.

The market is mostly player run. To have this kind of market, you need to have supply and demand. Supply is carried out by the PvE players, without whom the game would quickly collapse. Demand is created by losses, mostly by PvP. Again, without PvP, this game would quickly collapse.

The mechanics of Eve work in a beautiful harmony between PvP players and PvE players. It's this aspect, plus the camaraderie created by corporations, which has given this game the remarkable lifespan it has had, and will continue to have.

I would quit EVE intermediately.

The only act that keeps PVE interesting (every plex/mission/anomaly can be found in detail on the internet) is other players that are praying on you your loot and making obsticals, an NPC never could.

I can have the most fun by getting somewhere in hostile space run a site escalation of plex and get out of there with the loot. it gives great satisfaction, mostly because it isn't certain outcome.

and I create gameplay for the hunters and they for me, sometimes I win sometimes I lose.

it great fun try it.

Allow me to introduce you to the Dersen Lowery Law of Game Design: any mechanic introduced into a game, no matter how badly designed and regardless of the intention behind it, will attract people who find it appealing for one reason or another. Maybe it would be worthwhile to hit some high sec belts and mission hubs and ask people? Try not to torpedo them first; you might get better answers.

Mining is one example--Hilmar spent a lot of time mining!, but here's a better one: the giant wall of structure HP that was the signature of Dominion sov was intended to discourage people from destroying the structures. How'd that work out?
