Client refuses to update when using 3G connection

Could anyone help me out here please? Maybe some of you have had a similar experience and have a workaround/fix?

Here's the situation:

My primary means of connecting to the internet is via 3G connection, however I do have access to WiMax within my home. The reason I use 3G primarily is because, due to my location, the WiMax signal sucks and is highly unstable whereas 3G is much faster and stable for me.

The issue I have is that when I use my 3G connection, I've noticed that the EVE Client doesn't update at all, nor does it try to begin updating. Just a blank bar forever. I've tried some of the things I've read around the forum like changing the language to something else and back to English, the repair tool, and reinstalling but to no avail. I am forced to use the unstable WiMax that I have just to update the client and then switch to 3G when it's done AND bypass the client by running exefile directly. For reference, this is what appears whenever I try to update using the 3G connection:

Update Error using 3G connection

Please note the UnicodeDecodeError near the bottom, I think that's what the issue is because when I compare it to the log of when I update via WiMax that error doesn't show at all.

The reason why I need help is because I'm planning to have my WiMax cut off in the next month so if this doesn't get resolved I won't be able to update my client at all and I've tried to look for an option to manually update the client but couldn't find any that work (the cdn1 link just gives me the 'file doesn't exist in this server' message).
