Seems as if everyone's flying faction / T2 ships these days?

In low sec, it used to be that everyone would fly cheap, throw-away T1 ships, so if they got blapped, it won't hurt the wallet. Nowadays I seem to run into faction and T2 ships all the time. Is there an actual pattern here? Is there an arms race in low sec?

T2/faction ships are just better, it's normal.

In Cal/gal war zone both sides are quite wealthy atm with being long time in t2/t3 tiers so we can afford to use better ships. Wasn't long time ago caldari was in deep t1 and we had to eat each other for living

Wouldn't say that's entirely correct.

LP value has dropped significantly in this time. I still remember handing in 200k LP for a billion ISK (admittedly with some market awareness). But still, making isk in FW isn't that great. It's great when nobody (or few other people) does it, which is pretty much like everything else in the game, except maybe missions and DED plexs.

I can say from personal experience not *everybody* in FW is flying T2/Pirate...

In the frigate class, I prefer to fly T2 or faction/pirate frigates because they're more capable, I have more fun flying them, and I have the ISK to afford them.

That said, the derp meta is certainly not dead. Plenty of groups and pilots still actively pilot them regularly. And they're incredibly ISK efficient. Nothing sucks more than losing well fit ships to a blob of derp.

This... although, moving pirate frigs to small plexes and tactical dessies to mediums would probably help rejuvenate the T1 meta a little.

This. I'll never understand why t3 destroyers can go in smalls but t3 crusiers can't go into mediums. It has the personal effect of me making the decision to move from dessies rather quickly to cruisers. If I face essentially the same threat, why not just go to mediums?

They're working on adding new PLEX size and on a revamp of FW PLEXes.

You can thank JUSTK for those and the swarm that was Evoke way back when.....and then nulli, and test, and freddit, and pasta, and pretty much every other failed nullsec alliance that thinks they'll stomp poor, FW scrubs into the ground. But hey, we never lost Eha or Vlill or Nenna for that matter Bear

Well, I'm firing up Elite: Dangerous. I spent an hour creating a FW fit to try out and spend my evening with.

And what do you know. A ******* gate camp. No chance to escape. That killed my fun for the night. **** this.

I'm not sure it's about isk. One driver for this development is that CalMil organisations have matured and developed a lot over the last 18 months, have better experience, higher sp, and better FCs plus more competent solo pilots than they did and are, consequently flying somewhat higher end gear more routinely. Not quite an arms race but more catching up a little with the opposition. And since, I'm assuming, the Cal and Gal FW pilots were the most frequent users of the lower end stuff that removes a good chunk of it. Outside system sieges, where T1 still predominates, this means that there are now very few major organisations in lowsec who look to T1 as their primary option which means anyone looking to win a fight will probably want to roll heavier than a year ago. Call it a virtuous spiral or a vicious circle as you like.

Most of the gate camps exist on the high-sec entry systems, you'll also find them from time to time in other places, but that is much rarer. It can be worth checking the kill boards for the pipe you are coming in on as well as dot lan stats for kills if you have to come in from high-sec.

This happens everyday in calmil militia chat

Noob: Is Tama Camped?
Me: Yes forever and ever don't go through there
Noob: Kill: Noob(badly fit t1 ship)
Noob: Kill: Noob (Capsule)
Noob: Wah every lowsec system has a complete gatecamp I quit eve

It's getting old man.

Extra bonus are those who base from Jita and go to tama from Nourv because I don't know.

You need multiple copies of each ship. If you spend an hour crafting a fit you probably want at least half a dozen of them on hand if you want to be sure you have enough to spend the evening with it (assuming frig/dessie).
