Hello! I'm Nihta and I am tired of being a lowly boosting alt. I have set out on my own, into the Bleak Lands and Devoid to make my fame and fortune as a Privateer in Her Imperial Navy.

After only a day or two of flying, I met a small tight nit group out of Sosan. As a former fleet booster, I was skeptical of what they promised: fun, riches, and murder. However after asking them if my more impulsive tenancies would be a problem, they responded by assuring me such behaviors were encouraged! Feeling I had found a match of slightly suicidal people who were hopefully tinged with mania, I set off to Sosan. I fit up a basic artillery thrasher in case this was a trap, besides that my wallet was feeling quite thin at the time.

Immediately we spread throughout Sosan, taking complexes and generally shooting the breeze, however the pickings were slim and we only managed to fail at catching Purifiers doing their dirty work. I jumped over to Asghed system and sat in a small complex, keenly watching my D-scan. Local was going up and down, but for a brief moment I caught the flash for a Rapier! In system were two other people: a Wartarget and a Neutral. Some bad ship naming lead me to realize the neutral was our Rapier pilot and a conspiracy was quickly hatched. Zephon Asianne was to bait the medium complex in a brick tanked Confessor. After that, we'd figure out the rest. We correctly assumed the pirate would be disruptor fight, and decided Zeph could likely keep up under webs with his own MWD and Scrambler.

Sure enough the rapier took the bait. Our confessor was dying slowly but holding the recon down. I urged my ship's warp drive to life and soon was breaking light speed on my way to my new mate. Knowing the situation was dire, I focused my anger into my artillery cannons and proceeded to blow the rapier apart, nearly destroying my guns in the process. Zeph sadly reported his confessor was dead. This surprised us all, as he was floating no more than 3000 meters away, surrounded by now defunct light drones. Startled, he reported his hull was nearly breached, but the Amarrian starship designers built a tough ship and he limped away, trail of fire behind him.

I reported to the rapier pilot that he fought well, and that the it was a good fight. He returned an ellipsis. I believe he was upset his "easy" prey turned out poorly for him.

Until next time,
Nihta

I'd have not mentioned anything about the alts part, and wrote this BR from the perspective of a "new" player, but it doesn't really matter because it's still a good story, and one that newer players hopefully read. Taking initiative, getting in a relatively primitive ship (arty Thrasher rules), and most importantly getting into the scuffle as part of a team, are maybe the three most significant things a newer player can do. It's the key to the Eve worldview that CCP's own research demonstrates is the most reliable at retaining players.

Those guys are old pals. Rovie introduced me to lowsec after BAW kicked my carebear corp out of highsec and I never looked back. Good group, you'll have fun with them.

This story definitely deserved it's own thread. Catching a solo cruiser in lowsec is no small feat. What a sterling accomplishment!
Greatness? Perfection? I'm not even sure how to describe it. What you have achieved is truly beyond words. Hats off to you friend.

In other news, a miner was ganked today in highsec.
