Salvaging - Access Difficulty % Mechanics

Hello fellow thrill seekers,

I have a simple question but one that seems to have much grey surrounding it, with varied opinions rather then defined referable facts.

To which i hope this thread finds a CCP representative and a finite game mechanic response can be given please........ : )

Question ...
When salvaging a wreck, does the access difficulty % influence what you can get from the wreck ?

Example ....
A wreck is formed and the game determines what it now holds / could be salvaged. Lets use random 5x items as an example.

* Having a lower access difficulty % (eg 20%) means you may only get 2x of the potential 5x salvageables, as oppose to
* Having a higher access difficulty % (eg 80%) means you have a much greater chance of getting all 5x items ?

and

if this is not the case, does that mean a lonely old salvage drone could salvage just a well as a fully trained and T2 fitted Noctis pilot on certain wreck (outside of sleeper wrecks)

(which seems when said out loud, ridiculous considering the time and isk requirement to advance in this area of the game)

I eagerly look forward to your feed back.

Regards

No what is salvaged from a wreck is determined as soon as the wreck is generated.
The access difficulty % is what is used to determine if you successfully salvage from the wreck.

Using a Salvager I, and minimum skills, your base Access Difficulty Bonus is 5% (Salvager I @ 5% * Salvaging Level I).

The following methods are available to improve that.

Salvaging Level II, III, IV, V = 10, 15, 20, 25% (respectively) for a Salvager I
Salvager II = 7% per level (requires salvaging Level V to equip) = 35%
Small/Medium/Large Salvage Tackle I = 10%
Small/Medium/Large Salvage Tackle II = 15%
Hardwiring - Poteque 'Prospector' Salvaging SV-905 = 5%

Using a Destroyer with 400 calibration points as an example, you can attain the following Access Difficulty Bonus with full gear and skills.

Salvager II * Salvaging Level V + Small Salvage Tackle II * 3 + Implant
(7% * 5) + (15% * 3) + 5% = 85%

A Mission Generic Small Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of 30.
A Mission Generic Medium Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of 20.
A Mission Generic Large Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of 10.
A Sleeper Large Advanced Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of -20.

A small wreck, salvaging I your chance to salvage is 30+5=35% per cycle.
A large wreck, salvaging IV your chance to salvage is 10+20=30% per cycle.
A small wreck, Salvager II your chance to salvage is 30+35=65% per cycle.
A small wreck, full gear and skills your chance to salvage is 30+85=115% per cycle.

More specifically, all access difficulty does is determine whether or not you successfully attempt to salvage the wreck. The contents or whether there is anything to salvage is handled by the wreckage upon spawn. More or less access difficulty simply effects how long it will take for you to see if there is anything there and what's inside if there is. Neither the contents of nor the presence of salvage or lack therein has nothing to do with your salvagers, drones, or skills used.

Fear not, lower access difficulty has no effect on what you turn up, it just effects how long it takes to get whatever is there.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Yes and no.

Firstly there's a minimum level needed for wrecks, mostly that affects sleeper wrecks, but I suspect that a salvage drone can't access T2 wrecks unless you've got above the level 1 in the skill required to just use the drones

Second, it's about the time required. I've seen a flight of 5 salvage drones take over half an hour to salvage a faction rat wreck. If my Noctis had been anywhere in the vicinity I'd probably have salvaged it in one or two cycles.
