Do you use Mining Crystals & Drones in a hisec multibox mining fleet?

Do you use Mining Crystals & Drones in a hisec multibox mining fleet?

The hisec ores are so slim that it seems too much of a hassle to fit appropriate crystals.

Also the question about the sanity to use mining drones when sitting in the center of the belt where drones spend most of the time travelling.

Any tips on optimising efforts of a mining fleet in hisec are welcome.

Send a ticket and let CCP know you are dissatisfied with the game ores and your mining rate. You might get a negative response, but if enough people do it , they will have to consider it. Now is the time as it is a relatively new change. So they are looking for feedback.

How does drone use depend on local? Gankers=ECM drones?

Multi-boxing mining fleets are usually semi-AFK so using mining drones would go against their use. More yield is always wanted so using T2 crystals would be advisable. With the Crius changes that brought decreased cycle times rather than increased yield per cycle the crystals are arguably damaged faster than before.

I If you are serious about mining then I think T2 crystals are worth it.

If you are managing more than one miner then I don't think mining drones are worth the hassle or training time. The only time I use mining drones these days is with my Orca pilot when he doesn't have to do any hauling.

I use crystals, but usually do not feel like managing the drones. Sometimes if I'm feeling like being more involved, I'll drop a mobile tractor from the orca, then combat and salvage drones, to clear the rats.

My main has a hulk and foreman 5, uses t2 crystals and 5 mining drones. Along with my hauler alt who flies a retriever with t2 crystals and he unloads the combat drones. I send 3 of them to guard my main. The time it takes my main to fill 2 containers is about how long to fill the retriever so he flys back with a load of 25k, gets the ore hauler and hauls back 64k then jumps in the ret and goes back. Once in a while I'll bring out the salvage vexor to clean up the wrecks a bit to mix it up. Sounds boring to some but it keeps me busy micromanaging :) Just over 1300 from each lazer per cycle on the hulk (along with drones 280m3 per trip) and just over 1400 per on the ret with fleet bonus. I try to park next to golden omber or the like (within 5k meters) so the drones don't fly as far and bring in more stuff faster.

My main has great reprocessing skills so I usually make more from minerals than ore (witch is nice cause you can haul more to market to sell) and save some for the alts new hobby of manufacturing.

They are both tanked out as much as possable and still keep the mining lazer increase mods. Always pointed towards a safe spot and parked pretty close inbetween rocks so with fleet warp I get out pretty quick and safe hehe.
