I recently had a very new idea that I believe would make mining/industry have more exciting content.

My idea is that CCP implement a new type of ship for miners, This would be the T3 industrial ship that would perform a very special function in mining on a new mining platform(what the t3 mining ship is designed to mine). That mining platform I am getting at is a COMET.

My idea of the comet is as follows.

Comets would appear in systems as a cosmic signature that needed to be scanned down, So you would scan it down and warp to it with your t3 mining ship. The comet itself would consist of 3 layers of different mining materials. They are as follows.
The first layer(outer layer) would be ice that would have to be mined before being able to reach to the second layer made of ore. After the ore is mined there would then be moon goo to mine(moon goo being the inner layer or the core of the comet). The ice, ore, moon goo would be generated at random so that not all comets that spawn are the same. For example one comet might have Thick Blue Ice(Ice layer),Veldspar(ore layer), and Caesium(moon goo). While another comet would have Dark Glitter(Ice layer), Gneiss(ore layer), Titanium(moon goo). Other comets obviously having different Ice,ore, moon goo compositions making some comets worth more or less than others.

Now the idea of how the T3 industrial ship would work.

The first thing you would have to do is scan down the comet with your scanning ship(whichever that may be). Once scanned down you would warp to the comet in your T3 industrial ship. Once you exit warp and are at the comet you would have to literally fly right up to the comet and have your T3 industrial ship land on the comet. Once on the comet you would begin mining the ice then the ore and then the moon goo. To make it have a balancing side to the T3 industrial ship you would have to begin a cycle in order to 1. land on the comet and 2. to begin mining the ice, ore, moon goo on or withing the comet. The cycle time would be 2 minutes per cycle and while active the T3 mining ship would not be able to leave the comet until that cycle is finished. The T3 industrial ship would have different subsystems allowing for smaller/greater ore hold, longer/slower cycles, greater/less mining yield(would also impact the cycle time), offensive/mining drones(what I mean by this is that the T3 would be able to defend itself from ratts that spawn, or it could have a special type of mining drone that helps mine a specific part of the comet, in other words a certain layer of that comet).

I feel that this would create more content for miners, and also that it would be an excellent opportunity for a T3 Industrial ship to be introduced in the game. What are your guys's thoughts on this?

CCP has already promised more than they can deliver, so I doubt anything not already in the pipeline will be addressed in the next decade.

Example: Rorqual & capital overhaul, citadels, player-made stargates, space elevators, etc.

The concept of comets has been around for several years, but there has been zero movement on it beyond it being a neat idea. You might want to investigate what CCP and the CSM has already discussed on that front.

Most miners like how the basic principles of mining work currently. If you don't like mining I would suggest you do something else in-game. I agree with Tau in that CCP have a hell of a lot of work planned to do currently so we will be fortunate if anything else new that isn't a small task is added. In addition iterating and adding new stuff can backfire on us - just look at the new overview symbols for ships etc which are polluting our screens and obscuring the excellent graphics.

Comet mining fpr moon goo has been discussed before. Problem I see is that you still need a POS to turn the raw material into useful advanced moon material.

Outfitting the Rorqual as a mobile moon harvesting/processing ship would be cool - especially if they allowed it in highsec - but I'm not holding my breath.
