Permanent drone aggression

Hiya,

It's time to fix this life sucking problem. A few months ago it was very rare, but I have had it 3 days in the last 7 and been basically unable to do anything, since I am drone focused.

Problem: In nullsec anomolies, rats will immediately aggress my drones every time I launch them, for 24hrs.

-Warping out and back does not stop it
-Relogging does not stop it
-All anomolies and belt rats will immediately aggress my drones in the system it started for 24hrs

The only option is to move to another system until the aggression is reset by downtime. This might sound like no big deal, but I don't currently have another safe system to rat in, so I had to log off for 3 days this week.

Other players in our alliance are reporting the same thing, so it is not just me.

Please fix it. When it was once a month, it was tolerable, but not 3 days out of 7. I will go play another game until this is fixed.

Did you send a bug report while it was happening? That might help respective people immensely.

I am not sure if it is a bug or intentional. I will definitely submit a ticket next time though.

So your problem is that NPC pirates are too good and you can't deal with them??

or

So your problem is that you can't afk ishtard/archon for isk?

or

So your problem is null is too difficult and you can't figure out why the only safe null system is against you?

This is the most blantant entitlement thread I have seen to date. If you can't deal with NPC agression on your drones - don't blame the game, swap to a non drone ship. Do you think eve should just give you isk for free???

Until that may be clarified by CCP. Have you tried to draw aggression to your ship by using remote-Modules, e.g. Remote Sensor Booster or Target painter for example? Would try 2x Target Painters maybe?

Wow some people...

Anyways, yes. I have tried target painters, remote reps, and guns. I have been playing since 2009, so I am not a noob. This is clearly a strange 24hr aggression state that will not change in any conditions I can find. I have talked to other players with the same problems recently as well. It is especially painful to our new members who can fly nothing but a Vexor or Ishtar.

If you move to another system, the rat aggression is back to normal. If you then go back to the problem system, you find it still happens, until after the next downtime. We have tested it over and over, so not user error or newbness.

I have had the same problem doing havens in a ishtar with heavy drones. It only happens a couple of times a month though. Not a disaster, but definitely wonky.

But you are aware that CCP is playing around with the AI behaviour using Drifters to go extreme? Maybe you encountered one of these changes and personally would love to see this becoming more. That the AI is targeting your ship when it has no damage is pretty ********. Get rid of the drones and tackle the "mother" to kill her after damage is wiped.

A week ago while observing a system in zero-zero I had Guristas? warping around from gate to gate and checking belts after. Not sure if they went to the station too but it looked like they´re patrolling. That might be old news but well, the AI seems to get buffed and that´s good.

I'm ok with that as long as you add in pampered self entitled whines. If this is a problem then you are bad at eve and you should feel bad about being that bad. This whole thing is rediculous. That more than on person agrees with this 'problem' is borderline astonishing.

I was beginning to wonder how they were going to nerf the Ishtar into irrelevance good job CCP, working as intended.

Saddly this doesn't help much for pvp. I'm not sure why are holding on to that mess so tightly. (does Fuzzie fly ishtards or just all his pals???)

I was on mumble last night talking to some folks and though I can't provide a smoking gun for evidence there is a move to make afk drone pve a thing of the history books. Sorry folks, you had a good run, but the credits are getting ready to roll on game of drones.

Have you tried a forced deagress (ie: ECM)? My own experience is that standard NPCs will always target what has jammed them (provided they're properly jammed) as soon as they can...
If you can get NPCs to unlock your drones (by jamming them), give them a target they're really rabid for (the ECM ship) and they still stay stuck on your drones then there is clearly an issue.

I'd suggest using solid drones during the attempt of course...

Have you tried giving them their head? Deploy a flight of T1 lights, set them going and let the entire flight get destroyed, see if that flicks some kind of switch in their AI to get them looking for new targets?

Finally have you noticed other NPC behaviours which might be cause or indicative? The one which springs to mind are the NPCs spawning on station (or in belt) and continuously burning away. This behaviour has been connected to spawn bugs (low or inconsistent spawn rates...etc), killing the bugged spawn seemed to solve the problem in that case - though of course it takes a fair while because you have to pursue them over however many hundreds of kilometers they've crossed...

Just assuming since it was posted the way it was, that drones really were getting aggressed 23/7 in the OPs case. I am roughly familiar with that: Running RR-domis (capchains, multiple painters, remote sebos, RR active) with sentries NEVER has your drones catching aggressions. Literally, never. Yet I ran them a day and lost two sets of sentries on each, first wave went wtf and second wave I went home. I didn't think of opening a ticket on that, but someone with fresh gamelogs should certainly do that, pretty please.

This is one of those issues that drive you mad on one day and you forget about it the next. Without someone stepping up this will be a while until anyone becomes aware of this behaviour on the devs' side.

Bear wiith me as i dont fly drone boats, but have used sentries on my arty mach.

1. Why cant you scoop the one thats being targeted and then redrop? Preventing them from taking excessive damage.

2. Slapping a RR module on a HP bonused drone doesnt pull aggro or allow your drone to "tank" the damage? I know in drone/angel space, it took awhile for them to wittle my drone HP down. That was on unbonused drones too. If i had RR my drones could tank indefinitely. This was running sanctums/hordes.

Your ideas all involve the player paying attention to what is going during pve. You're missing their point.

Am I missing something? because when I was doing pve in nulsec with a raven months ago the rats ALWAYS aggressed my drones and I was constantly having to recycle them to keep them alive. I had to send drones after frigates while shooting battleships and cruisers with missiles, manage target painters, and count missile volleys so as not to waste them... just having to recycle buffed drones sounds easy, why is this making people dock up?

there's been a whole slew of back-end changes to some of the npc/drone interactions
tbh they are quite old changes

frigates don't like Medium/Large sized drones etc.
switch agro to the main dps source, your drones
and so on ....

e-war or remote reps can keep npc aggro on you

where drones are viable targets over your ship ... target & drone management becomes very important

This exact problem has happened to me 2 times this week. We are not talking about normal drone aggression mechanics. This is clearly broken drone aggression that won't stop for 24hrs. No matter what fit or anomaly, the rats instantly aggress my drones every time I launch them. The only thing I can do is move to another system. I filed a bug report.
