The Very Reasoned and Logical Case for Arenas

There are a few issues that can be solved by having arenas as part of EVE. In fact if you add up all the dev time required to deal with not having an arena, it might be higher than the time to actually give us arenas.

1) Locked practice systems would not need to be setup
2) Can have all interested tournament applicants play down to 64 without resorting to a random draw
3) Increases the exposure of the game in an e-sports type environment
4) Can gauge the format and make points changes all year.
5) Allows the running of smaller NT or SCL or Tuesday night bowling leagues without CCP intervention
6) Lower manpower to run the NEO and ATs
7) This format is obviously popular and people are flocking to it
8) 1v1, 3v3, 5v5, etc ladders and seasons and stuff.
9) The unbroadcast matches could be streamed by volunteer commentators.

Anyways, just consider it. Every tournament cycle is an opportunity to build and improve something like this. And when it comes time to run a tournament it is weil, automagic.

2-3 years ago I would strongly disagree.

Watching at success of such games like LOL and DOTA, strong raise of e-sports overall I would say now that arena combat and a yearly ladder should be somehow added to EVE as a stand-alone game mode. Especially in account that PVP in EVE is a lot more competetive and complicated than in any other game out there.

There is literally nothing stopping anyone from arranging a fight with another group in a system of their choice, either on tranquility or sisi.

Quit trying to turn EVE into some e-sports ladder nonsense and go eat an eskimo pie & watch your dota streams.

And if you want an example of the cliche dogma that is slowing efforts in this direction, here it is. Polly want a cracker?
