Thats a cool idea. However anyone actually using this to tackle supers in a fleet has waaaaaay to much ISK.

This is on the cards. Expect to see their final power level come out similar to other AT prize cruisers.

Hi Mates,

I'm the one that put together the AT XIII prize ships this year. Poor Fozzie & Rise get blamed for everything...

Anyway, some quick points -
  • These are not the final stats for the ships. Its an early pass without any play or balance testing - expect them to change. I'm interested in your feedback, so post (constructive) criticism or suggestions.
  • The design goal of the AT ships is very different to that of any other 'normal' EVE Online space boat. Practicality is unimportant compared to 'theme' & 'coolness'.

The Imp is a Sansha Interceptor, so its bonuses are going to be coming from that heritage. Sure, warp disrupt range (outside of the standard ceptor bonuses) would be powerful as hell, but that's a Gallente or Mordus bonus, not a Sansha bonus.
Given its current stats/bonuses it will have a 59km Faction Point range while doing 3.8km/s+ with an afterburner (w' Bonuses/Overloaded).

The Fiend is a Sansha Hictor. Do we expect players to use the Fiend to tackle supers? Well some special snowflake probably will..but on the whole no. We expect you guys to figure out unique and interesting ways to use them. I'm sure moving with an AB at 2.2km/s+ while having 100k+ EHP and having a bubble up could be used for all sorts of shenanigans.

There are two fields tournament ships get used in. One is for people wishing to show off, and the other is for the alliance tournament.

You mention theme and coolness. Well, there is nothing cooler than seeing a ship get blown up in the AT thats worth 200 billion. There's a reason we never see mimirs, vangels, and several other AT ships. Because they are not good enough to be fielded anywhere, in any way. Trust me, we've tried to incorporate them.

I can promise you that HIC will NEVER be fielded in the alliance tournament. It's pretty garbage. And you've said it yourself, no one in their right mind would field the HIC in actual combat. The imp, well, I have to grudgingly say wildcat is right on this one. Compare it to the whiptail, or the utu, or even a succubus, and you find it completely lacking in cohesive fitting options.

Lets look at the options, and I will suggest an alternative. so you say they need to be based around sansha bonuses, thats totally understandable. The imp also needs 2 ceptor bonuses, and 2 role bonuses. So lets look at that.

The first two bonuses are pretty simple:

Amarr Frigate Bonuses:
7.5% bonus to Small Energy Turret tracking speed per level
Caldari Frigate Bonuses:
20% bonus to Afterburner velocity bonus per level

Exactly the same as what you suggested. I would, however, upgrade it to 30% bonus on afterburners. Why? it's a unique ship, and the nightmare gets a 30% bonus. It's obviously possible for the Sansha to do it.

The second two are more tricky:

Interceptors Bonus:
5% bonus to Warp Scrambler and Disruptor range per level
15% reduction in Microwarpdrive signature radius penalty per level

Standard for every interceptor. I understand why you added them. You say it needs to follow the roles of the ship. WELL, the Adrestia gets a GALLENTE BONUS to velocity, I know of no other gallente ship which gets a gallente bonus to velocity, please correct me if i am wrong. And dont even get me STARTED on the Etana, which is I believe a logi, but gets recon bonuses. Let's face it, you have broken them mould before when it comes to unique ships, so dont tell me you can't do it now. I suggest something like this:

Interceptors Bonus:
5% bonus to Warp Scrambler and Disruptor range per level
80% reduction in propulsion jamming systems activation cost

Clearly this fits the interceptor mould, just takes it from the role bonuses and puts it in the interceptors bonus. Are you telling me you can't do that, considering the cluster**** of bonuses which the etana has?

Which leads to the last set of bonuses for the imp:

Role Bonus:
150% bonus to Small Energy Turret damage
80% reduction in propulsion jamming systems activation cost
Immunity to non-targeted interdiction

Okay, it all looks good, except we have already used the 80% reduction. Considering this is a sansha ship, the only real bonuses they get are to damage, so we can't take it from there. Most ships in fact get a flat damage bonus from their role bonuses, unless they are unusual ships. We have a couple of options here I guess. We could make something up, like you did for the bhaalgorn, with it's NOS are like neuts, and make it so, for instance warp disruptors act as warp scramblers, but I think this would be insanely OP. I suggest a comprimise, something, for instance, like this:

150% bonus to Small Energy Turret damage
50% bonus to Small Energy Turret Optimal Range
Immunity to non-targeted interdiction

So, the Imp would look like this:

Amarr Frigate Bonuses:
7.5% bonus to Small Energy Turret tracking speed per level

Caldari Frigate Bonuses:
30% bonus to Afterburner velocity bonus per level

Interceptors Bonus:
5% bonus to Warp Scrambler and Disruptor range per level
80% reduction in propulsion jamming systems activation cost

150% bonus to Small Energy Turret damage
50% bonus to Small Energy Turret Optimal Range
Immunity to non-targeted interdiction

Note, I have upgraded the AB bonus to 30%. Removed the microwarp drive signature bonus, and switched around the role bonuses a bit. I think the other ships stats are fair, and reflect nicely on the hull and Sansha ships. Note this thing would not be ridiculously OP. There are FAR better tournament ships which have been released in the past. This would just utilize the bonuses of the hull in a way which doesnt completely confuse the hell out of everyone like the etana does, or some of the other crazy unique ships.

They are too slow. These should be the premier AB ships. Being the premier AB ships they should go faster with an AB than they do with an MWD. The Imp should be doing 4.5+km/s without overheat with an AB. The Fiend should be doing at least 3.5+km/s with an AB without overheating.
After you have made the Imp faster with an AB than an MWD replace the MWD sig radius bonus with something useful.
They don't have the range. They need an optimal range bonus. Not much point of having a 50+km point on the Imp if I can only do damage out to 15km at best with Scorch. Same with the Fiend.
They don't have better damage. Take the Sansha bonus to 200 or 250%.
Make the Fiend the be all end all of HICs. Give it a 30km bubble. Give it 50km focused point range. Make it mean.

I personally love the direction and love the start. A few minor tweaks and you will have a ship people will be dying to get their hands on.

NOW, for the fiend. I quite like the fiend, but again, its not really anything special. The only thing it has over the devoter is it can move properly with its bubble up. That's not going to make it into the tournament, and no one is going to use it in any other setting either. HICS are suicide boats, and youre never going to see someone roll one into a supercap fight to tackle something thats worth a lot less than the ship thats tackling it.

So, lets look at the Fiend's bonuses too:

Amarr Cruiser Bonuses:
7.5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret tracking speed per level

Looks good!

Caldari Cruiser Bonuses:
20% bonus to Afterburner velocity bonus per level

I would change this to 25% myself but hey.

Heavy Interdiction Cruiser Bonuses:
5% bonus to Warp Disruption Field Generator scramble range per level

Err, It's a hictor I guess. It needs a range bonus. But why does it only get one? All the other hictors get a bonus to turret damage or range. Why not give it a bonus like the other hics? Like this:

Heavy Interdiction Cruiser Bonuses:
5% bonus to Warp Disruption Field Generator scramble range per level
20% bonus to Medium Energy Turret Optimal Range per level.

It doesn't seem completely out of range, does it? Lets face it, if it is set up as a tackler, which no one will ever do anyway, its not going to ever need the range bonus, and if its set up as a tournament ship, its not ever going to need the hictor bonus. This seems like a VERY fair compromise.

Now lets look at the role bonuses:

Role Bonus:
150% bonus to Medium Energy Turret damage
Can fit Warp Disruption Field Generator
20% bonus to all shield resistances
Unaffected by Warp Disruption Field Generator mass & speed effects

I honestly see no problem here. You might be saying, all you have done is given it an extra bonus and upgraded its afterburner speed! Yep thats right. But the etana gets 8 bonuses, so why the hell can the fiend not? Let's look at the overall picture of the bonuses:

Amarr Cruiser Bonuses:
7.5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret tracking speed per level

Caldari Cruiser Bonuses:
20% bonus to Afterburner velocity bonus per level

Heavy Interdiction Cruiser Bonuses:
5% bonus to Warp Disruption Field Generator scramble range per level
20% bonus to Medium Energy Turret Optimal Range per level.

Role Bonus:
150% bonus to Medium Energy Turret damage
Can fit Warp Disruption Field Generator
20% bonus to all shield resistances
Unaffected by Warp Disruption Field Generator mass & speed effects

All of this basically make it a rather tanky, very fast phantasm, with good mid-range dps. It doesn't seem at all overpowered, it is very counterable, but it would make a very strong tourney ship which people might actually consider using. That range bonus gives it something which other hictors have, but other sansha ships don't, which seems like a perfect compromise.

If you're not happy with that however, I do suggest one way you could balance it is to remove one of the empty highslots, so it would have 3 turret slots and 4 highslots overall. I think this would make a fairly large difference, but it would counteract thew extra bonus I suggest.

Neither of those ships look crazy, especially when compared to other tournament ships. It would make us as teams consider them for the tournament, but it wouldnt make them overpowered as hell. It fits in with the sansha theme, and they look hella cool to me. A pulse fiend using scorch would reck face, but you would have to balance your tracking out to make sure you could hit considering your speed. The imp is basically a stronger succubus, which it should be, with a range bonus that allows it to hit out to a fair distance. It's esentially what would happen if a navy slicer and a succubus had a baby, and I bloody love it.

I hope you read all this and find it useful, because frankly all these tournament ships will be used as right now is collectors items, and I want to use them and lose them in the tournament.

The fiend probably should not be a hic (things die everywhere), a combat recon is an option though. To the person who said it should be able to receive reps while the field is deployed.. No. It just should not be a hic.

There are better setups.

Accept for the fact that the last Gall bonuses AT ship was the Adrestia / utu... So you guys went from the Mimir / Freki(minny), Adrestia / Utu(Gal), Vangel / Malice(Amarr) , Etana / Cambion (Caldari) for the Upgraded Hacs / logi / AFs.

Then you went Moracha / Chermoas (Minny / Angel) , (No Gall / Serp) , Chameleon / Whiptail (Caldari / Guristas ) , Fiend / Imp (Amarr / Sansha)

Why would you keep to the line you already set with the Recon/Pirate faction ships that you already have instead you decided lets use the useless hic class so people can pvp in it...

You should do a Blood raider / Amarr Recon ship it would work so much better, A super pilgrim and a Cruor on crack.

But it seems you guys just got lazy with the design took a skin and said this looks good let base something **** on that. I guess with all your devs leaving for other games you must be really lacking on the ideas front.

As a Vindicator and Moros Role-player the lack of gall ship pisses me off waited long enough...

They've already said they will consider changing the bonuses. Maybe you should chill and see what they decide. At this point they're not going to change the hull classes, so you might as well post some constructive suggestions on the bonuses instead of being upset about not getting your gallente pimp ship. Not that you would get one anyway :3

Well the usefulness of the bubble is pretty much limited to tackling things in nullsec... usually supercarriers. You should instead focus on making the bubble capabilities of this ship better for other means as to make it more useful and interesting. A couple ideas would be, the fiend's hictor point can prevent interdiction immune ships from warping through it or out of it, like interceptors. This would at least make it viable to use the bubble for means of preventing ships from landing directly on top of you while you burn around at 2200 ms with your afterburner.

Just one idea, as I said, if you want to make a hictor useful for something other than what hictors are made to do (Tackle supers or bubble fleets) you need to make the bubble more useful in other contexts.

I don't follow your logic but whatever. If sansha has supercap it doesn't imply they need HICs.

If you want it to have cool TQ bonuses (and let it be used for supercap tackling), it needs to have 2 more bonuses (at the cost of mass/speed penalty negation):

much shorter point cycle or ability to receive reps while tackling
AND
dscan immunity or covops cloak

For AT meta i like Rive's proposal, or - at least general direction. But frig wouldn't be that cool even with projection bonus - i'd rather give it much more dps w/o projection bonuses; and for cruiser having 80km scorches with 37% bonus to tracking sounds too OP to me.

Also i noticed how people easily get tunnel visioned on ship bonuses, while base stats are as important as bonuses - only a few voiced concerns about these.

So I too am confused on the HIC logic because sansha has the worst super to ever exist......

however I do have an interesting proposal for you.

So you can take the bonuses of the base hulls and make them stronger, so the uniques are stronger that their faction counterparts...... but lets make these ships TRUELY unique and special. Something that will make them powerful on tq, but will not affect the tournament at all!

I give you an interesting excerpt from the sansha lore..... meet Sansha Kuvakei and his "true slaves"

"The praise only fueled Kuvakei's delusions of grandeur and megalomania, leading him to begin exploring ever stranger ideas. Believing that the world would be better off under his rule, with his chosen elite free of all burdens, he sought to create a loyal army of workers and soldiers. However, he realized that drones would lack creativity and adaptability. His solution was to join Jove capsuleer technology with existing brain implants to create willing slaves. Before he could perfect this technology, however, he needed test subjects. "

So keeping with this theme, I was thinking like a ship bonus of 5-10% increase of implant effectiveness. Maybe more, maybe less. I think its a totally unique idea that would be super cool. Also seeing as how you cant use pirate implants in the tourney it wouldnt affect the tournament hardly at all.

Thats my idea for your unique sansha ships

Might be the worst in blob warfare...but if you do small scale pvp...a 24k dps super that has enough mid slots to switch to a fast tracking fit with 8k dps fighters that can go 8kms+ with great tracking...it is quite welcome and nowhere near the worst.

But...Yes, these AT ships are trash.

Its agility is trash, it cant be remote repaired and will probably sell in the region of 150b. Plus i dont see much point in a bubble going 3.5kms other than to run away while your bubble is still up.

If anyone uses this near me i will just titan bridge a huginn in next to it and drop a Nyx to kill it. I dont care if the Nyx dies because its 1/6th the value Roll

For what it's worth I'm in agreeance with most the posters in this thread.
If you're devising a prize for us all to compete for, you should consider something that would inspire fervor to acquire.

The prizes are worth a chunk of isk and that's the greatest motivator for most. But I'm the kind of idiot who has always lived in EVE on somewhere between 1 and 5bn of liquid isk at any time, burning through whatever I have on PVP and fun.
If you give me a "solopwnmobile" ship, I'll actually fly it, and I'll actually die in it, and it'll be cool. Whether that's in AT XIV, or in TQ PVP, or to concord - who knows.

I think personally that a HIC bonus for the Sansha Cruiser is the wrong direction, and the frigate while cool, isn't really worth undocking over a Succubus (esp. when you consider hull value alone).

Anyway, enough with the complaining, onto the suggestions you need to contemplate when reworking bonuses or roles.

The Imp
I'm happy to see the Imp as an interceptor, but it needs to be viable to use this to tackle and hold an opponent, something very fast and with a decent range of operation to ensure it's not just webbed, scrammed and dead like any other paper-frigate.

Amarr Frigate Bonuses:
10% bonus to Small Energy Turret tracking speed per level

Caldari Frigate Bonuses:
40% bonus to Afterburner velocity bonus per level

Interceptors Bonus:
15% bonus to Warp Scrambler and Disruptor range per level
80% reduction in propulsion jamming systems activation cost

Role Bonus:
150% bonus to Small Energy Turret damage
50% bonus to Small Energy Turret Optimal Range
Immunity to non-targeted interdiction

Slot layout: 3H, 4M, 4L; 2 turrets
3 Rig Slots, 400 Calibration
Fittings: 55 PWG, 180 CPU
Defense (shields / armor / hull) : 700 / 520 / 625
Base shield resistances (EM/Therm/Kin/Exp): 0 / 30 / 40 / 50
Base armor resistances (EM/Therm/Kin/Exp): 50 / 55 / 25 / 10
Capacitor (amount / recharge rate / average cap per second) : 450 / 210 / 2.14
Mobility (max velocity / agility / mass / warp speed / align time): 420 / 3.5 / 1,000,000 / 8 / 3.75s
Drones (bandwidth / bay): 0 / 0
Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 55km / 800 / 6
Sensor strength: 15 Radar
Signature radius: 30
Cargo capacity: 150

Changes:
Increases to AB Speed bonus per level so that the ship will operate at the same, or greater speed than t2 vanilla interceptors so that you can chase down faster targets and get under their guns before they toast you (thinking ONI's, Phantasm's, Cynabals, etc.) with a increased bonus to tracking to help with the increased speed.
Since it's an AB focused ship, the MWD bonus is useless and should be dropped entirely, moving the Prop Jamming bonus up into the Inty bonus, which as Mr Rive pointed out, is fairly standard. The other change was the increase from 5% bonus range for Scram/Disruptor, to 15% bonus range. Still below the bonuses handed to the Garmur or Orthrus, this gives it a larger engagement range to hold a target while orbiting.

Obviously to go with the speed/operation range increases, the guns need to match and hit as far. The role bonus remains at 150% bonus damage, but an extra 50% bonus optimal would give it the ability to kite and apply damage to larger targets, making this an extremely fun ship to take out and fly in TQ PVP. Very valuable in future AT's as well. And lets face it, if you're bankrolling the isk to drop these in an AT, you're comfortable losing them.

Other changes made were to decrease base speed to 420, compensating for AB Speed increase a little (blaze it yolo), and the align time decrease so that you've got better orbit profile when you're tackling something.
Slightly higher lockrange due to increased disruptor and gun range.
Slightly higher PG to fit a better tank (MSEII+ other things will eat this up pretty quickly).

Anyway, onto the Fiend.

FIEND

Honestly unlike the Imp I don't know where to start on this one, or what I want it to do.
I do not like the idea of a HIC, it is really not the right kind of ship to be flinging into situations where you have a bubble stopping you from warping.
Make it a HAC, make it a Logistics cruiser, make it a recon, a sniper. Anything but HIC.
I actually liked DHB's suggestion to give it a bonus to pirate implant effectiveness - it is something completely new and ultimately very in line with the Sansha backstory and culture.
Even a 20% increase to a pirate implant set overall effectiveness would be absolutely game-changing.
It would mean the ship loses viability in the AT due to the ban on pirate implants, but it gives it so much more versatility in TQ and would become the ship of choice for smallgang pvp (where EVE meta should be heading towards).

As I think of it right now, covops cloak would be a great addition to the ability to be repped while WDF is active. While a unique logi with covops cloak exists (etana), there would be nothing wrong with a unique covops cloak hictor to exist, after all there must be some pvp use for a 100b+ ship.

As for tournament use, I think additional stats would be enough. Like 30-40% more ehp and damage compared to the hac/hic/faction cruiser counterparts in addition to the same speed with AB as the counterparts have using MWD.

You wrote it yourself that this HIC is to expensive to bring it to kill a titan - well what else should you use it for? Tackling a Carrier? HIC´s won´t be used in AT so i just don´t see your point what to do with this one except for station spinning.

well the imp will just suck against a dualprop dramiel/inty that drops the shieldtank for an tracking disruptor. About 7km/s against 3.8km/s good luck.
