Getting things out of impound if there is no arrears to pay

So a few months ago, CCP launched ship skins. At the time of the patch, I had 4 skinned ships on the market in Rens and Amarr. The patch came, I got 4 nice new skins for the ship which I have long since traded, however something is bugging me.....

The ships that those skins were on, 2 Comets, a Vexor and a Prophecy got impounded in the trade hubs.

I have never had offices in Amarr or Rens so have never been in arrears and as such have no way of getting them back.

Has anyone else come across this and if so, how did you get your ships back?

If you sold them on behalf of your corp, when the orders were cancelled they should have been put in your market deliveries. The only way they should have been impounded is if there were in a Corp Hangar because you had an office there, or deleted a character with those in their hangar. If they are impounded then you have go to Amarr and under the Offices tab on the Station Services window click Release Items, this will prompt you to pay an amount of ISK to release them, it might be quite a expensive. If you're sure they shouldn't have been there then a petition might be able get them out for free.

Thank you, a bit of your reply helped. Because I have never had anything impounded before, I assumed that having them release would have been a button in the 'Impounded Items' tab in the corporation window. I assumed that it hadn't appeared because I wasn't owing anything (Like I say, I have never had offices in Amarr or Rens). Now I know the correct location of the the button, I can release them (for the current cost of the 2 ships). Although, I shouldn't really have to pay that.

To explain myself a little better :

- I had a Police Comet on the market in Rens when the patch came down to introduce the new skins. The sell order was on the behalf of my corp.
- After the patch, the Police Comet no longer existed so the market order had gone.
- The Police Comet skin appeared in my offices in my corp head quarters.
- The Federation Comet the skin was on got impounded in Rens.

I have found the button now, if I want to pay to to release them I can do. But still not sure why I should have to pay to release it. But hey - meh - I can just leave them there
