You're not in the US navy here, you're in EVE.

No-one else in EVE who isn't in the USN and doesn't have the amurikkan flag wrapped around their eyes gives a ****.

Next!

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

Wow, you guys are #$@% &^*% suckers. Jack off to someone messing up an acronym because they don't play eve or browse the forums 20 hours a day.

Liang, you used to be informative to read circa 2006, however, as of late all you do Is argue semantics to the point of obscurity. Hope you disappear again as very few like you. Basically, spread your taint elsewhere, it's getting old!

To the rest of the known universe, DD = DareDevil

some strange people (yea, they are very strange creatures) living in 0.0 and using fleets use DD for D(amage) D(ealer)....

once i have heard about DD = Doom Device. You never heard this word. It is only used with Titans... Some people even dare to say they saw those ships Shocked

Normally I'd say that yes, we don't have to be Aholes when someone makes a mistake. Thing is, you probably should read the OP's belligerent, "I know better than you" replies. OP fully deserves anything that's thrown at him.

As a semi permanant Retail working basement dweller I got confused to. Everyone I know obviously knows DD is a shoe width and POS must stand for Point of Sale. And for the BB, we all know it as "Big Bertha" the huge meal we get at the local grub joint. Roll

Since this is Eve Online i have no ends of confusion as why Everyone else thinks these simple abreviations mean things different in Eve Online.

Everyone must look at it my way P

Basically: its a trollpoast.

Ed: I admit its possible that nobody has referred to the destroyer as a DD simply because there haven't been many threads about them. Even still, I can count the number of people that have gone all "BB" on me on one hand.

Yes there is definitely a troll here... *ahem*... DD, is a common term destroyers, and since I am a military vet I use military terms - deal with it.

Laing you seem to have nothing to add to this post, yet you seem to like to troll it... was the last HAG a tearful experience for you? you fit the "uMad" type I think here that is "are you mad" for you if you are not up on your chat slang.

Really, I feel I had no choice but to assume you were a troll considering all the talk of T2 mods, Nagas, and the implied suggestion of using DDs for suicide ganking. I figured it was more likely that you were trolling than that you'd get everything so catastrophically wrong.

But in case you're just a ******* moron, I suggest you use a blockade runner as your warp in and loot scooper, and T1 fit catalysts.

PS: I mine in Amamake. Feel free to drop by and suicide gank me.

Your kind of a **** aren't you??... oh well, some light reading for you:

**USN Ship Designations**
Warships in the United States Navy were first designated and numbered in system originating in 1895. Under this system, ships were designated as "Battleship X", "Cruiser X", "Destroyer X", "Torpedo Boat X" and so forth where X was the series hull number as authorized by the US Congress. These designations were usually abbreviated as "B-1", "C-1", "D-1", "TB-1," etc. This system became cumbersome by 1920, as many new ship types had been developed during World War I that needed new categories assigned, especially in the Auxiliary ship area. On 17 July 1920, the designation system was revised so that all ships were now designated with a two letter code and a hull number, with the first letter being the ship type and the second letter being the sub-type. For example, the destroyer tender USS Melville, first commissioned as "Destroyer Tender No. 2" in 1915, was now re-designated as "AD-2" with the "A" standing for Auxiliary, the "D" for Destroyer (Tender) and the "2" meaning the second ship in that series. Ship types that did not have a subclassification simply repeated the first letter. So, Battleships became "BB-X" and Destroyers became "DD-X" with X being the same number as previously assigned. Ships that changed classifications were given new hull numbers within their new designation series.

The designation "USS" standing for "United States Ship" was adopted in 1907. Prior to that time, no designation was used in official documents.

It should be noted that in the United States Navy, unlike European Navies, the first ship in a class to be authorized by the US Congress is the designated class leader (class name ship), regardless of the order in which the ships of that class are laid down, launched or commissioned. For example, contrary to many European texts, for the last class of "Standard" battleships, the battleship USS Colorado BB-45 (commissioned 30 August 1923) is the class leader under USN designation standards, not USS Maryland BB-46 (commissioned 21 July 1921). These battleships are thus properly designated as being "USS Colorado BB-45 Class" and not as "USS Maryland BB-46 Class." This list includes current US Ship designations - US Navy, Coast Guard, and Army.

Designations in italics are no longer carried by active ships, but are commonly seen nonetheless.

Prefixes
USS = United States Ship (Naval vessel manned by military personnel)
USNS = United States Naval Ship (Vessel manned by civilian crew)
USCGC = United States Coast Guard Cutter
MTS = Moored Training Ship (ex SSBNs converted to training hulks)

Non self propelled craft are marked with an asterisk (*)

CGN Nuclear Power Guided Missile Cruiser
CG Guided Missile Cruiser
DDG Guided Missile Destroyer

FFG Guided Missile Frigate

SSBN Nuclear Powered Ballistic Missile Submarine
SSN Nuclear Powered Submarine

Geez, I know I've missed a few patches but I'm pretty sure I would have read something about EVE being converted to a US Navy simulator

Guess what, you're playing a game, it has it's OWN terminology. Destroyers are commonly referred to as dessies, battleships are commonly referred to as BS, blackbirds are referred to as BB's and daredevil's are referred to as DD's

You might get a little kick out of knowing all the correct US navy terms, but fact of the matter is all you are doing is alienating yourself from the rest of the community and making yourself look like a massive tard (probs not being helped by the claims of t2 fit nagas 1 shotting orcas :D)

Learn the game language if you're gonna play the game. Same as you had to learn the military language to join the military
That or you and the other 3 eve players using these terms can just get together and trade 'ship fitting secrets' on your own

There should be a rather awesome pic here
