[rant] What "idiot" thought up and made Compression Arrays?

I'm a miner, I love mining ore and ice and all that good stuff. However, way back in the day, I loved flying a Rorqual and had all the blueprints for compressing ore and ice, pretty much max researched. I'd sit there while my fleet mined and worked, they'd bring me ore and ice, I'd start compressing it in the Rorqual's compression slots. It gave me something to do and a use.

Now, we have this illogical infinite power Compression Array. Compressing things to 98% less mass. In an INSTANT.

You add a new module to the game that takes zero time to compress ore, has no disadvantage of any kind, making one of the big features of a capital ship useless, along with all the time and ISK spent on blueprints that are now obsoleted.

I've only just recently returned so, I'm not sure if this was temporary and still in work, or if some idiot decided "I like this feature, roll it out now, don't think about the consequences or balancing this to fit in with the other thing that already does what this module will do!"

Skiff ore hold; 15,000 m³
Skiff Cargohold; 350 m³

Gleaming Spodumain = 16m³
Compressed Gleaming Spodumain = 28m³
That's a 98.25% compression rate.

In comparison, I can either store 959 raw ore in total,
I can store 548 compressed or which is 54,800 uncompressed ore.

I simply warp to POS every time I get about 930 ore, instant compress, warp back and repeat till I have about 250-500 compressed ore, then dock. It used to be better, where I had to give it to someone with a Rorqual, relying on team work and someone who had a ship capable of compressing. Now, it's free instantaneous compression for everyone. No need for someone specialized in compressing. No need for any skills to compress ore. Why bother anymore, we just made hauling ore out of null so much easier. Ore is no longer hard or dangerous to transport and no one is needed anymore to compress it. You might as well have given all mining ships 98% larger ore holds, it's about the same effect, only you wouldn't have to warp back and forth to a POS/station every 5-10 minutes.

I'm just a little angry, ranting about the new module taking away one of my favorite features from a Rorqual. I felt like I was helping a LOT by compressing ice for everyone while they mined all day. It sucks that you took that away from us.

Putting "rant" in your title will not end well. I'd be more worried what happened to your beloved alliance if you have just returned Twisted

In before ISD.

Rorqal waits on the rebalance pass. It is more or less limited in its usefulness until then.

Remove standings and insurance.

I put [rant] there in case someone doesn't want to read it due to it being just a rant.

I don't know what you mean about the alliance bit. My actions and my opinions have nothing to do with my alliance. I'm just annoyed that the Rorqual I've been aiming for on this account, was made less nice by the addition of the Compression Array. And it doesn't make sense some of how it works now. 98% compression, is like ridiculous.

I have a couple things, first, Rule 3. Second, you are.... oh god.. how long has it been since the indy changes... what was that..Crius? Holy ****... Crius! Its been quite a while since Crius... not to mention that there were like... 50 threads on this back then (I know... I trolled like... 90% of them. With songs I think... pretty sure.) So, did you open a time portal by any chance.. or I guess a time well.. seeing as you filled a bucket and pulled it back through.. but yeah. Youre a bit late for Crius tears. Like a year late.. almost.. 22 July 2014... so almost a full year late.

Just in case you wanted to rant about other things that happened in July of last year as well, I found a list. Im sure you can find something there that irritates your backside.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

The compression array was added because reprocessing was changed to prevent perfect reprocessing, thus cutting out the use of manufactured modules as a way to effectively compress minerals for transport.

They are going to make the rorqual capable of using highsec gates so you can still use your rorqual as shuttle, CCP accepts your thanks in advance.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

I too hope they make the rorqual worthwhile since the compression changes but meh its not that bad still for the boosts mining in null.

And as UaE has said so eloquently your WAY late to that party.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

they plan on pushing the rorqual out into the field!..

no more boosting under POS shields.. since hell shields are going away, they have no idea what to do about the rorqual.. rorqual right now has became the capital industrial paperweight.

fozzie didn't even want to talk about it.. she's not even considered a capital to be included in the balance pass on CAPITAL SHIPS!!!!!!!!!!.

Greyscale had to do a data pull to find out it was being used as a mining support ship!!!!!!!

there you have it bro.. the rorqual is DEAD.. and on Life-support with an expectation that they'll cut off her air supply in the future.

now reprocess that!~

CCP has no idea what the **** they want the rorq to become. Right now its a great ship to haul rigged mining ships across eve, but that's about it.

yeap rorqs are pretty useless, and have been. no idea what they have planned for it

probably should just boost mining links to always give the full amount so you can just throw them on a BC/CS and not worry about the silly capital industrial line.

The way it is, the Rorq requires too much protection. The addition of the Orca and adding a compression ability to towers makes it a second choice for most industrial tasks.

Its simply not worth keeping alive compared to alternatives (in my opinion).

Mining bonuses still work inside a forcefield irc tho. So you can always park it if you already own one. If you put it next to one of those new compression arrays, you may even teach it hows its done these days :)

It was songs I remember because that's when Orla developed a habit of posting William Shatner spoken word renditions of David Bowie classics such as "rocket man" and " the man who sold the world"...good trolling, good times.

Forum rules

3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

17. Redundant and re-posted threads will be locked.

As a courtesy to other forum users, please search to see if there is a thread already open on the topic you wish to discuss. If so, please place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forums needlessly, causing good feedback and ideas to be lost. Please keep discussions regarding a topic to a single thread.

It's true, putting [rant] in the title spawns ISD like gankers spawn Concord.

Also, closed.
